I always talk to my cat... she listens as well! I love my cat for the sheer fact she wont answer back and she will just listen for hours on end and just stare back
Shame she is so old and hasn't got long left, I love her so much.

The thing is though, if you say something nasty in a happy tone of voice, he still wags his tail! But yeah I don't like have full on interlectual conversations with my dog.

When I ask him if he is ok, he does a little moan which means yes lol
