I dont see anything wrong with this thread and i certainly didnt think it was childish. Ben is a grown man who is gay and knows a lot of gay guys.
He was only interested to see what people liked the most. I dont see a problem in that. He certainly wasnt attacking anyone or anything. And there are sterotypes in each sexuality. He was just interested in seeing what we thought about the gay sterotypes.

I am not looking to cause a row.

People always bracket people by stereotypes for personality, thats how we establish who we like/don't like for everything from friends, celebrities, Big brother etc.

All i wanted to know is about the Gay guy side of personality.
That is not reinforcing stereotypes, or segregating gay guys.
I'm sorry if you feel that way, but in all honesty, it is not.

This thread was designed to see what type of personality people prefer in gay guys, and that is all it was for.

Why don't you change the thread title so that people don't get the wrong idea about the thread? Maybe, Favourite gay personality?

Sexuality doesn't dictate personality. I like funny, friendly people - gay or straight.

oh no...of course that wasnt your intention..and i never said anything about that!

buh it is bring steriotyp together me thinks!

if someone is gay....then they can just be gay!
i mean..some are already being steriotyped because of their sexuality....
and i dont see the point of steriotyping on types of being gays...

buh..sorry...if it made it sound as if your causing rows...

The whole reason I started this thread is because me and my mates the other day were talking about how Gay guys are portrayed in the media as always bitchy, camp queens, and how this makes a lot of people hate gay guys. And we all said that there are so many different personalities with gay men, more than the media portrays, so I wanted to know what people found they preferred.

This isn't a thread casting stereotypes over gays and straights, just a mere curiousity into people's opinions and thoughts.

and in answer to this, many gay guys stereotype themselves further.

Bears, Twinks, Studs etc. That happens with most of the gay world, and they are happy with that (not saying I am), but even Gaydar reinforces these stereotypes, and many gay guys use Gaydar and promote these labels, which are based on looks.

I was interested in personalities.
