I think it's because it's Final Fantasy, they always take pre-orders for it early. I remember with FFX-2 that was taking pre-orders for ages before it came out.

I've had Crisis Core today, I've only managed to play an hour of it so far but I think it's great. It's very different from the other FF's.

Final Fantasy XIII is going to be multi-platform (Ps3 and 360) which i'm very happy about since I don't have a Ps3.

I love the look of it but I wonder if this means that final fantasy XIII Versus is coming to Xbox too? I hope so but If not i'm more then content with XIII!
