I would have thought that they would have started by now considering the BBCH ones started on the 13th but I think they'll begin today or tomorrow.

I think C4 are leaving it late to start advertising because the ads for BB9 started 3 weeks before launch and we have only 2 weeks til it begins on the 2nd. I predict that the first ad will be tomorrow.

Well tomorrow is the day when we are almost certain to get our first advert for CBB6
If we don't see it tomorrow which is unlikely then C4 have left it to late and are then running the risk of a ratings disastor

i think they might advertise it during Peter Kay's 'Britain's got an Extra Pop factor, and then some!' because it will pull in alot of viewers.

I have a feeling in the middle of Peter Kay's 'Britain's got an Extra Pop factor too. Because it raked in a high rating, so its a good idea to start it then, then heavily promote it. maybe by announcing a famous persons name every 2 days or something... that would be cool.

That won't be happening though because DoI has always been on ITV and they won't want to advertise a C4 show like BB.

Well ITV advertised a C4 show during The X Factor in October and during the final too.

ITV1 can't refuse if Channel 4 pay them. It goes in with the normal adverts and no date/time is allowed to be said, but they can advertise on ITV1 if they want

ITV can refuse C4 but if C4 put a high price on the advert then ITV are less likely to say no.

C4 would have payed about Ł150,00 for an advert during The X factor final for a repeat of the Peter Kay show
It will cost C4 a lot less to buy the advertising space for DOI for the launch of Big Brother which is the show which decides the next 3 weeks of ratings for C4
So i'm sure C4 will pay a the price for it.

Good point but I have never seen a channel advertise for another one (BBC never advertises for anything else) but I don't see why C4 would choose to advertise during a DoI special because it won't have too many viewers so why didn't they put an ad in the XF final because that would attract a LOT of viewers due to the fact that the audience for XF is similar to the BB one (10-30 year olds).

If Channel 4 pay the asking price to ITV Sales then ITV can't refuse them a slot. Its the same for all companies.

The BBC doesn't advertise for anything else because they don't advertise at all. C4 and ITV are the only 2 terrestrial channels who advertise for each other.
DOI averaged over 9million viewers earlier this year so its in the similar region to The X Factor. Plus its another reality show which does attract similar viewers to Big Brother which C4 can't over the Xmas period because viewers mainly only tune into ITV1 and BBC1
C4 didn't advertise Big Brother during The X Factor because they weren't advertising it yet and they wanted to give one of their new biggest shows a boost instead.

So ITV ask a price and if C4 meet it then they get the ad slot no matter what?

I suppose ITV would rather go for an alternative if there is one
but if C4 are going to advertise one of their shows on ITV they will put their bid in for a slot weeks or months before other companies do so ITV are forced to accept or risk it and reject before it gets any other bids.

BBC does advertise for their own channels (BBC's 1-4). DoI averaged 9 million viewers? That is surprising because I thought it only got about 4-5 million. I still think that the audience is different, just because it's reality TV I don't think it is the same as BB - I would say it's the same as the SCD one. Why wasn't BB advertised during the XF final because advertising started on the 13th last year and what new big show was given a boost instead?

If you looks at figures it gets a high number on 16-34's and a high percentage of women as BB does, so the audience are very similar.
C4 are leaving Big Brother late this year for some reason maybe because high advertising has lead to low ratings for most shows this year.
The new show is the Peter Kay show which has been a real success for C4, getting just under 6million, 3 million(repeat) and its on again tonight.
