I don't know what to say about this - I can sympathise with you Nicky because friends should be aware of something like this, and shouldn't make you see a film didn't want to see, especially when you planned to see something else a bit later.

But I also think that because it was her birthday, she ultimately should get to choose :\

I personally think, it was her birthday so really her choice of film. Perhaps she thinks your weren't a good friend just going home? I dunno. If It was just a random cinema trip then fair enough but it was her birthday.
