They keyword here is IRONY. She's obviously not being serious, it's like south park, using shock humour for a reaction, they don't believe what they say but they say it to stir a reaction.
Jade has nothing to do with this, she said what she said in a completely serious manner. While I'm guessing Chelsea was being Ironic. |

That's where I got the idea that you were offended. The use of the phrase "I can't believe" and branding her humour as "blatant racism". |

Can you see how "Shilpa Poppadom" could be perceived as racism too then?
I minused yours from 7 to 6, after mine went down from 25 to 24, so I guess it wasn't just me who minused you today. |

'Ignorant' would be a better word. But, she's gone now, so it doesn't do to dwell on what happened in her life.
I personally don't find the akon/chelsea clip to be offensive. There will be some people who do. |

I don't hate Jade and i supported her over the last few months. I was mentioning that you seem to find something to post a new thread about that eventually comes back around to the subject of Jade Goody. Can your brain process that? |

Lmao... that's cleared up the misunderstanding. Nice to see we can all be honest and upfront about our dislike of fellow forum members.
Edit to add: Someone put mine back up to 25. haha |

How many times did she mention him being black or black people without any context or prompting or anything. She may as well have introduced herself and then said 'Hey Akon you're black. Lets talks about your blackness'. Has she never interviewed a black person before or something? Not good. In fact, quite poor. IMO.
Those clips you've posted are different as are the quotes from Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock. Those are snippets from stand up routines made up in order to make a point. She on the other hand is sitting interviewing a black man and she cant get off the fact that he's black. Whats her problem? If she was interviewing a Jewish person would she be constantly talking about Jewish issues. Maybe, maybe not!!! Personally, I think she's trying to be funny and controversial - just for the sake of it - and failing to be either. |

Again, it's down to whether you find her funny or not. I do think it's the same whether the comedian is black or white. Some people will find it amusing and others will find it offensive. She's not the funniest person in the world, and her material is certainly lacking, but I don't find her offensive. I think her humour is slightly self-deprecating in that she's portraying herself to be a 'typical white person who doesn't understand any other cultures', but maybe I read too much into it.

Thats not racist at all haha, is it that if you mention he is black its racist? I found none of that racist, Akon isn't the kind of guy that would allow himself to be bullied.
Being racist is using some ones colour to insult them, or insulting them for their colour... as far as I can see, he does not look offended! I thought it was funny! |

Thats not racist whatsoever. Thats just funny. The reson why you guys might find it racist I am afraid to say, is because in the US, Black people and white people have a certain camaraderie, that does not exist here. SOrry, but its true. Its just like when you have a close friend, they can get away with calling you certain things, which a stranger cant get away with. Its quite simple really. Everyone is pretty much segragated in the UK, socially. So you have a long way to go before people can laugh about these sort of things.
And comparing it to Jade? How silly. Jade wasnt saying what she said to her friend, or joking. She was saying it out of anger, to someone she hated! |

"Its just like when you have a close friend, they can get away with calling you certain things, which a stranger cant get away with." So like over there can you do the same to a stranger? |

Its a comedy routine! And its an accepted joke. The OP is probably right saying it it wouldnt be well received here. NOt because peolpe are somehow more tolerant, but because there is more tension between the two races, than there is over there. Hence the example of what someone close to you can get away with, and a stranger cant. In the UK, the black person is more of a stranger than he is in the US.
For example, the blac dude in the US, have a lot more close white frinds, that would make such a joke in real life. Where the black in the UK generally doesnt. |
