CDs will never die out,Vinyl is still around. Collectors and fans will always want more than just a digital version.
I will always buy CDs and Vynil.
I play CDs and Vynil everyday. I also use iTunes.
I hate illegal downloads, more respect to the artist/band you love is to buy their music to help keep them around for longer. I love buying CDs and looking at the artwork inside the cases. You get what you pay for.

Agreed.

This is the new better than 24bit CD
SHM (Super Hi Material) CD JVC /Universal labels.

Sold in Japan
and Imported.

The other New CD also better than 24bit
is the BluSpec CD by Sony.
Like Earth Wind & Fire has been upgraded
to this new BluSpec.

Sony and JVC had a battle over VHS and Betamax
many years back.

But on these new better sounding CD's
they both work in any CD player.

Kids can have MP3 - poor quality sounds

And Adults
we have Quality Hi Fi.

I think all the people who really love and apperciate music will buy cd's.

It's just so much better to have the actual album rather than a song on a computer.

SACD and DVD-Audio were higher quality and were meant to replace CDs but the formats didn't take off because of MP3 and the fact you really needed a 5.1 setup.

Some people still prefer the vinyl sound over CD, saying it is richer and fuller...

I don't think SACD and DVD-A didn't take off due to MP3. It was more due to the fact that to get the higher quallity sound from the wider bandwidth you needed a special player and most people did not want to fork out on a new peice of kit when they were happy with the sound of CD. That and the small fact that they did not market it very well. Warner music released the first DVD-A's. But if you called their head office no one there knew what they were. If they made them but did not know where they are then it had no chance.

On the vinyl vs CD argument. I once put an Arcam CD player at Ł1200 up against a Mitchell Gyro SE record deck at the same sort of price. I played the same tracks on CD and vinyl. Although CD was cleaner (no clicks and the like) the vinyl was warmer and a nicer sound. Not so clinical.

DVD-A is also a bad name for an audio format. Most people associate DVD with video.

There's a bit here about the reasons people might think vinyl has a warmer sound - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gramoph...d#LP_versus_CD I must admit, to my ear, it is not necessarily better fidelty but does have a deeper, less tinny sound.

I can't agree more. This is what happened when I called Warner to find out were I could get some discs to have a play with, as I had a player but no discs. They kept wanting to pass me to the section that did music DVD-V. I had to point out to them that their own format was going to fail if they did not know what it was.

I prefer mp3s because I never use CDs. I never use my CD player. I always use my laptop, or my ipod.
I'd like to have the CD equivalent for the sake of it but I'd actually never use it.
I have no interest in getting a car, and if I did, I'd want one with a tape player so I can use my iPod :]

Yes
SACD 5.1 , DVDA 5.1
and DTS 5.1 disc are the best.
I have one Poineer player that plays all three
it has a chip for each.
DTS music discs are the best now as most DVD players have a DTS chip in them.

These 2 new CDFormats (SHMCD / BluSpec CD)
are the best in CD
above 24 bit.
But never like 5.1 mastered dics , of course.

DVDA is not much made now
But SACD gets another boost as Hybrid SACD 5.1 disc
that also play on normal CD players.

Some SACD's are not Multi Channel so they are 2.1 mix
with DSD Mastering.
They are not as good as Multi Channel SACD.

MP3 is compressed sound
like going back in time
bad sound, not good enough for me,
Ideal for lazy kids , though.

Thats about the fifth time you have said that. Lots of kids buy CD's. Especially young kids without access to computers who buy pop CD's. My dad downloads everything and I buy CD's. It is down to the person. It has nothing to do with age, you miserable tit.

OK not young kids.

But it is True
that many kids at school and College/Uni
only want MP3 which is the worst ever in sound
but they do not care
as they have there sexy MP3 player
and many have the all important
for Lazy kids - Illegal Downloads.

I was on a Bus in London, last week,
and these girls got on all with MP3's blaring away
and they all shouted as that was the only way to talk to
each other.
Then they started Screaming.
It was like being at a Zoo.
Not Chavs - Utter Nutters.
