But people have said usually when we were in school how we calling "a bunch of white kids" responsible for slavery, our people. Which really aggrovates me.

Id prefer to just leave everything in the past.

And yeh people do over react massively, sometimes it is justified though obviously.
Nobodies callin white people for what happened in the past. Its just the fact that you cant compare callling someone a brit to calling someone a P**I...The two are on massively different levels because of the history of prejudice.

The same old debates and the same old comments. You people lack for personal growth.

Yes there have been instances of over reactions to incidents of minor racism but that should never disguise the whole debate. Surely any body can see that discrimination on the ground a persons race is wrong in every sense of the word. Or is there anybody who disagrees?

Personally, I wouldn't bother trying with some of these people. They know what they know, and nothing seems to change their minds.

I sort of disagree, I think it depends on context and what is said.

Apparently saying "black coffee", "blackboard", "blacksheep" etc is all seen as racist due to PC gone mad ... and I'm sure that you, as a black man, don't get offended in the slightest by any of that and its all just silly.

But you enter muddy ground when maybe if you do something like Emily did in BB8 (imo completely in jest, spur of the moment, just showing her ignorance really) but theres still no right or wrong. Then Jade. You can debate that to death really, it boils down to no there was no racist words said but can other things be implied as it? Then instances like that drags up a whole other argument; not racist at all (if she was white would it just be bitching?), ignorance and just dislike of a person and not race, or just down right racist. Is it essentially people being offended on someone elses behalf? I think it is that kind of thing people can't agree on.

Now another mis conception that ties in with the middle point (Emily/Jade type situations) is that you can call someone something racist but an equivalent for another race isn't racist. I'm even guilty of that myself tbh but I think its important to remember historical context and I doubt anyone on here would be half as offended if they were called a "white b*stard" than if a black person was called, well you know ...

Then theres just outright racism which I think it is pretty unanimous when someone is racist or not (ie maliciously saying one of 'those' words) with intent to harm feelings.

Nicely put. You seem to understand the context of racism much better than most.

Racism in its purist form involves some kind of power. Zee has already made the point that denying someone an opportunty on the ground of their race is one of the purist form of racism. He's absolutely right on that.

The degrees you mention are quite interesting. In each case context is the key thing. I dont think Jade or Emily were racist but both were guilty of terrible ignorance. And it's ignorance that invarialby leads to racism.

We live in a society where everything that is said is racist.
Eg. When JLS and Rachel were in the bottom 2 in XF, when Heather was in the botton 2 all the time in SCD. It was in the newspapers the next day claiming the audience to be racist.
And that annoys me, everything is seen in that way.

See this is why im glad to have a black best friend and we just joke about it, if i offend her, she doesnt get offended vica versa, and im sure i once said something to her and she laughed, and then someone walked passed me and actually thought i was being raicist and gave me a evil look.

For the Jade situation, Im not sure. Isnt it weird that evertone claims that if a white person offends a black person they are raicist?? Maybe its just natural bitching or maybe they dont like each other.

People make it seem if a white woman doesnt like a black woman, that they are racist, thats not the case at all, is it wrong to not like someone, just because they come from somewhere different, doesnt mean they MUST be nice to them and be friendly.

The thing is most people mistake ignorance for true rascism when in most cases it's not the case. Look at Ninastar, in the first post she equated Brits and p***s to mean the same. Was this rascism on her part? No it's just ignorance. Racism is a big problem in this world and it needs to be stamped out but if we see rascism everywhere then we'll never truely banish it.

I think Education is the key, We need to establish what is truly (Let's face it black and white boards are not offensive) rascist and do our best to try and eradicate it through teaching others. If we keep on this PC gone mad route then we'll never have true equality.

I just think that white people are allowed to say "You know that black person over there...." without getting in trouble for it. How else would you explain? I say it all the time, "Yeah that black person" doesnt mean im racist.

I dont think educating will have it sorted it, the media and the country are so determined and fixated that everything is raicist, no one can escape from it now, its spoken about all the time.

Blacks were supressed by whites. Whites were not supressed by blacks. Life aint fair, I know, but they can get away with a higher degree of linguistic ignorance.

Reminds me of the time Charlton Heston came out saying ''if gay's have a gay pride thing going why cant we have straight pride?''. Because your not opressed. Because your not a minority. Because you dont need to tell the world your straight Charlton, you fucking tool. Im pretty sure he made an identical comment about white pride.

Well i wouldnt say black people are in a minority, black people make for a lot of the world population.
Also some people say that about Chinese people being a minority... not really, theres more Chinese people than anyone else in the world (1b libving in china) and probably another billion across the world, making 33% of the population of the world.

Thats because in media and politics there are always people trying to make a name for themselves, and by claiming stupid things are racist gives them a chance to raise their profile. You seem to know whats racist and you seem like a sensible guy. Just because some arsehole says its racist that dont make it so and just cuz someone does that doesnt mean that people are trying to say that everything is racist. Context is the key.

I see what your saying but the Chinese living in Britain are considered a minority group. Just like the blacks who fought for civil rights in the southern bible belt states in the sixties. I know their are lots of blacks in total number, but you catch my drift.

Everyone tip toes around with political correctness and it just makes us think we can't say anything without being racist. IMO political correctness is just a load of white men in suits being offended on behalf of black and Asian people. Does anyone on this forum who isn't white honestly get offended by some of the crap they say is offensive/racist, ie blackboard, flying an England flag for the world cup etc ...
