my 9 year old cousin watches it. his lil bro watches eastenders. everything on tv is a family programme. if it was deemeed unsatisfactory for any one to watch they would say so
Just because a 9 year old watches it doesn't mean it's a family tv show.

A 9 year old can watch an 18-rated movie.. that doesn't mean it's a PG movie?!
a nine year old will not be able to watcn an 18 rated movie unless it was on tv. he would not be bale to go to the cinema, or rent it out. maybe on the net

Yes, exactly.. just like a 9 year old couldn't watch BB in the cinema.. if a child were to watch an 18s movie on tv (or BB) it doesn't mean its suitable for them just because they watch it...

Saying BB is suitable for 9 year olds because a 9 year old watches it is like saying its okay to hit someone because you hit someone. Just because something happens doesn't mean its right.

And most of those tv shows you mention don't have full-on swearing or nudity... they may allude to things but nothing more usually.. and I still wouldn't say most of them are family tv shows either.. family tvs are mainly just talent shows/entertainment shows.

ALL the shows you mentioned, NONE of them are considered as FAMILY TV SHOW, my gawd.

In fact most of them are even deemed the WORST TV show by Parents Television Council (US)!

If trash like Hollyoaks is considered fine for young minds, I can't see how anyone could have an issue with BB tbh.

Because it can be considered an adult show. I am sure many kids watch it no problem, but the point remains that it is wrong for a housemate to say it is a family show. It is anything but. At least until the grandparents come to squeeze in on the sofa to watch Goofy & Donald Duck come to the diary room.

Wow.. just because people are doing something doesn't make it right!!

Sure children might watch BB but that doesn't mean they should be watching it.. do you understand what I'm saying?

Very childish "everyone else is doing it" attitude.

I actually agree...

I wouldnt move BB to the 'family' bracket.. I would move Hollyoaks out of it.

And it's not that families don't watch BB, I'm sure many do.. its that its not a "family show"... there is a difference.

Yes, but it is not INTENDED TO BE A FAMILY SHOW. I am sure plenty of familys have watched The Exorcist, but is it a family movie?

Sree was about as wrong as you could get.

yeh so whats the fuss in saying its a family show. no harm is going to happen to anyone.
the fact that people of all ages watch it. so it dont really matter what anyone says anyway. weather sree says its a family show or weather you people think its not a family show.
its still on tv. prople still watch it. so give over and carry on

Because he nominated someone on the basis that it is a family show, when it is not? Therefore curses are the norm? And he was probably dumb to apply for Big Brother in the first place if curses offend him? And he curses himself which makes him a hypocrite?

Should I really go on?

A reality tv show at 10pm on Channel 4 featuring very strong language, conversations of a sexual nature and often nudity (full frontal on ocassions) is not and can not be classified as a "family tv show" no matter how many families watch it.

Clearly you think you're right and that won't change so carry on in your ignorance.

When the h/lights show is repeated the following day, it is censored and I suppose it could be regarded as more of a 'family show' then!
Although I find that phrase and 'family values' to normally mean whatever the speaker wishes it to!

I think said member may be pretty damn young himself, and thus is defending his own demographic. He certainly sounds like a nine year old .
