It's just that the increasing trend is that there are more moderators than users posting/online at particular times. I counted one day and on page 1 of C&G the number of threads started by moderators exceeded the number started by users.

Here is a quirky site which amuses me - normally moderators are 'invisible' people who only post or interject when things get out of hand - you honestly don't know who they are. Here moderators are leading the parade and doing things like seeking votes from banned users using offsite methods - hilarious.

So basically, its back to the same old thing of how mods shouldnt interact with members?

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure it is the popular opinion that members prefer mods to actually interact with them.... And even so, just because members get chosen to be moderators it doesn't make them instantly want to stop chatting and that you know :/

I dont get this whole us and them mentality, it is people like you that are creating the problem here.

I'm not necessarily saying it's wrong - it's just different. The only difficulty I see it that it leads to feelings of bias, which is exaserbated when mods start bringing-in things from offsite.

When mods have particular groupings of pals (and are seen to be engaging-in/leading chatter) within the user group or from MSN, whatever - then (rightly or wrongly) my perception is that they will be unable to act in an objective/value neutral way.

When thre proportion of mods to active users is low this probably ain't even a consideration. When mods start outnumbering users I believe it is.

The site still amuses me no-end probably for these reasons which is why I'm addicted to it.

Tbf yeah, mods shouldnt bring offsite stuff on here...I agree. But in this case I really dont see a problem, it seems a bit like you are letting your personal feelings about andy get in the way of it all. Its really not that big a deal to get votes in something like this from him, especially as he voted in the first round.

Also, to enhance my earlier point I was sure I had done a poll on this faceless mods thing before and I found it here(also 3 of the mods who voted on it, were not mods at that time )

Some good ideas are brought up in that thread, but in general...only one person who voted had a problem with the mods being members too.

Again, I dont get the problem here.

Are you saying Zee fixed it Claymores? If not then why do you need to have a list of people who voted? And do you really think someone would be sad enough to fix something like this? Its a bit of fun, thats all

We all know this thing was rigged.

If it had been done fairly then I'd have won this fair and square.

No arguing.

I'm really not impressed.

Thanks to Zee who did the awards though.

It must have taken lots of time to organize it.

I'm still impressed I was in the top 20. Honestly thought I'd be in the 40's region.

Well done again to everyone, and thanks again Zee (congratulations on winning)

I'm gobsmacked I even registered on the voting, and I'm not even bottom, where I'd expect to be! Thanks to those who voted for me though - what were you thinking?

Congrats everyone

Also about this msn thing...Again I dont see a problem with mods chatting to other members offsite at times. I have like 35 members on msn, talk to probably aboout 15 ish...yet if they break rules I still infract/ban them, so bias doesnt come into it for me. Hell, the one person I spend like hours and hours talking too on msn is currently on a 2 week ban given by me(edit..no it wasnt given by me, but I did suggest it ...and I have banned him previously for weeks before). So this whole friends thing just doesnt come into it.

OK fine - I edited my above post anyway to try to explain a little better. I'm sure you are objective and value-neutral

You are a little self contradictory Vicks - you said mods shouldn't bring in things from offsite. Which banned member did you post on their behalf their preferred Christmas ID?

Since the closing date was still whilst jess was banned, I dont see a problem with this either.

Honestly Ian, are you just looking for things to moan about? Because it sure as hell seems that way.

Yeah I'm being a pain in the arse and looking TBH Vicks - even I know it as not lacking in self-awareness.

Think I've vented all now you'll be relieved to hear!

So just to sum-up from some of your recent thoughts (forgive the paraphrasing):

- banned users can't post.......

- mods shouldn't bring in things from offsite

Jessica was banned for a reason and one would have thought that one of the consequences would be that the banned user would have been unable to post to request a christmas name as just one aspect of the punishment for their misdemeanour.

You still don't see the problem with your above post???????

I hope when they are back they stick to the rules, Tommy can be funny without spamming and jessica can hold a conversation, yet they both just go and spam
