Good evening, hope you all had fun getting your author skills on this round. We’ll see your entries and The Task Master’s thoughts on them shortly.

But first, this round you were tasked getting your blues on by finding the best blue thing…

- Have the second best striker currently in the Championship in Kyogo.

- Tom Brady.

- We have the best song in Sport with Keep Right On.

- Soon to be Championship champions.

- We have a tactically smart Manager.

- We had Ipswich and the Referee both ******** themselves last Friday night. To the point where Ipswich didn't even know what attacking even was.

Basically we're coming for the Premier League title by 2035, watch this space.

TaskMaster behold… the best blue thing.

Not a mug. Not a sock. Not even a chunk of sky in a jar.
This… is living lightning, trapped in a perfect sphere.

I call it: The Orb of Infinite Wonder.

Inside, bolts of pure electric energy dance in hypnotic blue. Touch the glass — it reaches for you. It knows you. This isn’t just a thing you look at. It’s a thing that looks back.

And most importantly — it is really, really blue.

Unlike a photo or a painted object, this blue moves. It flickers. It changes. It's alive!!

So yes it truly is the best blue thing.

An intensely blue metamorphic rock that polishes very well so makes great jewelry. It has usages in painting when ground up to a pigment form to create "ultramarine". It has been used in Renaissance painting.

Maru - Interesting choice. When ground, Ultramarine is more precious than gold when weighed gram by gram. Ultramarine was the finest and most expensive blue used by Renaissance painters. It was often used to make the robes of the Virgin Mary, symbolizing holiness and humility. It remained an extremely expensive pigment until a synthetic ultramarine was invented in 1826. That is fascinating stuff. It was like the AI of the 19th century art world!

The Master Taskers

Set in the future, here's A TaskMaster Christmas (2025).

The Taskmaster and their partner love Christmas. Together with their two latest foster children, Tabitha and Theodore they always go all out to make it an incredibly special time. From the Tinsel to the Turkey, every little detail is perfect! It's open house for their neighbours on Christmas Eve, but only till 9pm as the tiny Taskmasters have to get to sleep or Santa won't call. The Tree is a veritable delight, twinkling merrily in the corner, festooned with red velvet ribbons and handmade ornaments....

At the open house Taskmaster, Taskmaster partner and his Little Masters, Tabitha and Theodore all sit around the Christmas tree as they there gather the gifts for the guests yet to arrive. They giggle and cackle as they chat excitedly about all the exciting night that is about to unfold. After all, Taskmaster has always been known for his creative genius when it comes to his surprise gifts, his thoughtful little notes and special gestures. As the guests arrive, all speculate the surprises that await. The little children are more energized as they see the guests walk up ready to enter their home.

As the crowd approached the house ready to come in the Task Master suddenly appeared. "Ha!" he exclaimed, "you didn't think it would be that easy, did you?" "By "open house" I meant whoever of you brought me the best orange thing will be gaining entry and sampling my Brussels sprouts and that person alone!" He walked the line of opened presents laid out before him, face like stone, never betraying him with emotion, that was until he reached the glorious winner, a modern-day Buddha. A solitary tear ran down his face. "Come in Alf" he said "Orange Man.......good"

The Case Of The Missing Watch

The Taskmaster was a man of refined tastes and unshakable loyalties. His house was an elegant jumble of 19th-century armchairs, brass telescopes, and mahogany cabinets, each stuffed with treasures from centuries past. On the mantel sat his prized possession: a silver pocket watch rumored to have belonged to a Victorian golfing champion - though the Taskmaster's friends suspected this “fact” was as flexible as his golf handicap.

One Saturday, whilst watching the Rangers match on TV with friends including Cherie, Parmy, Rusticgal, BOTS And Mock, disaster struck. The TaskMaster found his beloved watch gone. He looked around suspiciously suspecting everyone but nothing else was out of place except one of his golf clubs was leaning up against the open back door.

Determined to recover his treasure, the Taskmaster began his investigation in classic fashion: grilling each of his houseguests as though they were contestants in one of his own diabolical challenges. Clues emerged - a muddy shoe print in the hallway, a scrap of tartan fabric caught on the window latch, and a suspicious trail of shortbread crumbs leading toward the garden shed.

Inside the shed he found a miniature golf course. Teacups as bunkers, candlesticks as obstacles. And at the 18th hole sat Mock, grinning, holding the watch. ”Thought you'd like a proper challenge, TaskMaster!”

The Taskmaster paused. Then smiled. Ingenuity deserved a reward. They played nine holes...and caught the second half of the match, he even let Mock watch the Birmingham highlights after the match.

The watch ticked on. So did the Taskmaster.

The Master Taskers - 3points. The thought of an open house of Christmas eve fills me with Grinch-like dread. I have always liked the name Tabitha as it goes however. There was some nice imagery and scene setting here but I just don't think our Alf is the visiting and party type, he would be at home with a meat and potato pie, 6 cans and 20 Bensons.

Double Trouble - 5 points. Who does not like a who-dunnit? A Sherlock-holmes inspired thriller than involved a theft (an illegal migrant was my first guess) and the noble game of golf. The tale ended up in a dark, cobwebbed cell where naturally we find Manga Mock. A Devilish story for the ages that would have JK Rowling Hooked. Bravo
