IT’S a case of Santa CLAWS in Corrie over Christmas — with FOUR fights and an attempted murder.
Widow Maria Connor (Samia Smith) floors Tony Gordan (Gray O’Brien) — convinced he killed her husband Liam. Twisted factory boss Tony, who has already throttled OAP Jed Stone (Kenneth Cope) and shoved him in a Christmas hamper basket — warns Maria: “I wouldn’t ever, ever do that again. “There’s still plenty of space next to your husband and baby in that graveyard for you to join them. Meanwhile, teens Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) and Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) come to blows. Gail (Helen Worth) invites the Websters for dinner but the two girls are soon at each others’ throats. After seeing Tina flirting with young newcomer Gary Windass (Mickey North) jealous Rosie calls her a “tart” and all hell breaks loose. Advertisement Tina retorts: “I’m not the one who dated a kidnapper twice my age” — and hair extensions are soon flying. Then a violent scrap breaks out between Gary and Tina’s boyfriend David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) after hunky Gary tells David: “Your bird’s gagging for me mate. I’m going to have her and there’s nothing you can do about it.” And Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) settles an old score with Eddie Windass (Steve Huison) by showering him with Christmas dinner leftovers. A source said: “Gail is absolutely mortified.” The Sun |

It's going to be a busy old Christmas in Coronation Street, not least for Emily Bishop, who apparently will be cooking up a twelve course traditional Polish feast for Wiki, Norris and Rita. Various fish dishes and dumplings with sauerkraut (I have that when I spend Christmas at my German in-laws) will be on the menu. "Corrie chiefs have caused uproar by replacing festive turkey with a Polish Christmas dinner," fumes the Daily Star, who claim that an un-named Corrie cast member called the idea "unpatriotic and worse than Scrooge." To me, it sounds like really good fun - I can't wait to see Norris's face.
Meanwhile, The Sun is revealing more about the Christmas plots, and Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without a few Corrie punch-ups. Click the continue reading link to find out who's thumping who. - We'll see Tony throttling Jed Stone and dumping him in a hamper. Whether Jed lives or dies is going to be a Christmas cliffhanger. - Maria punching Tony (yay!). - A catfight between Tina and Rosie ("I'm not the one who dated a kidnapper twice my age," Tina points out, quite reasonably). - David Platt and Gary Windass scrapping over Tina. - Joe McIntyre dumping Christmas dinner over Eddie Windass. Roy (David Neilson) is delighted that Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) has decided not to return to Africa but it is clear that she is still struggling to settle back into life in Weatherfield. She starts out by telling him that she doesn’t want to talk about it but by the end of the day she confesses that she had a crush on one of the staff in Africa and feels very foolish. Ever forgiving Roy tells her to pretend she has just returned and they will put it all behind them.
Steve (Simon Gregson) is on the phone to Becky (Katherine Kelly) reassuring her that he will be in court for her on Wednesday. But he soon discovers that isn’t going to be easy. Michelle’s (Kym Marsh) parents are coming over for their anniversary and she wants to throw a party for them. Becky is devastated when she discovers that she has lost her star witness. Amber (Nikki Patel) has confided in Molly (Vicky Binns) that she told Tara (Ayesha Dharker) about Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Nina. Dev is still furious with her so Amber tells him she is going to spend some time with her mother in Finland. Meanwhile Minnie (Poppy Jhakra) asks if she can work in the kebab shop. Tina (Michelle Keegan) and David (Jack P Shepherd) are keen to find out if Graeme (Craig Gazey) got rid of the car and are surprised when he says the Windasses stole it – problem solved. Elsewhere Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), Kirk (Andrew Whyment) and Chesney (Sam Aston) return from South Africa and agree not to talk about what Cilla did. Fiz asks for her job back but Tony (Gray O’Brien) gives Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) the job instead. This episode is written by Peter Whalley, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Kay Patrick. **** PI for the rest of the week follows: Monday 24 November 8.30pm Steve (Simon Gregson) is relieved when Michelle (Kym Marsh) announces that she is taking her mum and dad out in the morning which is just the solution that Steve and Becky (Katherine Kelly) need to allow him to go to the court case. But his relief is short lived when Michelle presents him with a list of things to do whilst she is out tomorrow. As the day continues Becky is faced with more and more evidence of how much she is asking Steve to risk and after hearing Liz talking about how Michelle has grown on her and Barry saying how much Steve is part of the Connor family, Becky reaches a difficult decision. Amber (Nikki Patel) won't listen to Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) as he tries to stop her from leaving. She says goodbye to Darryl (Jonathon Dixon) who has been left jobless and homeless, knowing that he may not be there when she returns. But it isn't long before Dev realises that he can't run the kebab shop alone and has to go cap in hand to a relieved Darryl. Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) is raring to go helping Roy (David Nielson) out at the cafe but Roy has everything sorted leaving her feeling somewhat redundant. It isn't until both Becky and Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) makes it clear to her how much they struggled with their problems when she wasn't around that she starts to realise she might have a talent she can put to good use. Elsewhere Gary (Mikey North) is annoyed when he realises he did David (Jack Shepherd) and Graeme (Craig Gazey) a favour by getting rid of the stolen car. This episode is written by Martin Allen, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Duncan Foster. **** Wednesday 26 November 7.30pm It is the day of Becky's (Katherine Kelly) court case and she is convinced that without Steve (Simon Gregson) to testify she will definitely go down. Steve meanwhile knows he should be grateful that he doesn't have to go to court but somehow it doesn't feel that way. As the time of the case draws nearer Steve tries desperately to get away but it seems everything is conspiring against him. When he does get to the court he is frustrated to discover the case has been postponed to the afternoon and he has to resort to desperate measures to get there. Once on the witness stand he is stunned to see Blanche (Maggie Jones) in the public gallery - but committed to helping Becky he surprises himself and everyone else with the heartfelt character witness and alibi he gives. As Becky is acquitted Steve tries to to convince Blanche that he was merely helping out a friend but when Becky comes out of court his real emotions take over - shocking both himself and Becky. Tony (Gray O’Brien) is surprised and delighted when Carla (Alison King) arrives home unexpectedly but he knows he will now have to come clean about taking the money from the account. Carla rather likes this new vulnerable side to Tony and after he takes her out for a romantic meal she turns the tables on him and proposes. Gary (Craig Gazey) and Len (Connor Ryan) have come up with a plan to get their own back on the Platts - without anyone getting hurt. Waiting till the coast is clear they sneak into the house and a stunned Gail (Helen Worth) returns to find not only is the cupboard bare but it doesn't even exist any longer, neither does the cooker, sink, dishwasher - or any of the kitchen for that matter. Elsewhere Michelle's (Kym Marsh) parents’ party goes to plan - despite Steve's elaborate plans to get to the court case. Norris (Malcom Hebdon) has a date with a fellow competition addict and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) gets an interview for a job at the youth centre. This episode is written by Joe Turner, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Duncan Foster. **** Friday 28th November 7.30pm Steve (Simon Gregson) is desperate to see Becky (Katherine Kelly) but feels very guilty when Michelle (Kym Marsh) thanks him for making her parents’ anniversary a success. The day continues to get harder for him when Becky comes into the pub and offers to do a shift for him so he can spend some time with Michelle’s dad. But he flips when Jason (Ryan Thomas) arrives at the Rovers with a gift for Becky and embarrasses her with an outburst about what a rat Jason was. The factory girls are relieved to see Carla (Alison King) but Sally (Sally Whittaker) is surprised when Tony (Gray O’Brien) announces that they are getting married. She tells Kevin (Michael Le Vell) who is also shocked but tells her they should forget all about the video, but he isn’t keen on Carla paying Rosie (Helen Flanagan) a visit. Joe (Reece Dynsdale) and David (Jack P Shepherd) are preparing to rebuild the kitchen after the Windasses’ handy work. Gail (Helen Worth) is sick of Graeme (Craig Gazey) being around and tells David it is time his mate moved on. Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) is worried about the interview convinced that she won’t get the job because a criminal record check is bound to reveal details of her past which will disqualify her. Roy (David Neilson) however thinks they would be fools not to employ her. Elsewhere Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is struggling to run the kebab shop but Tina’s not interested in a job until he reluctantly raises the rate of pay. This episode is written by Mark Burt, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Duncan Foster. **** Friday 28 November 8.30pm Becky (Katherine Kelly) can’t believe that Steve (Simon Gregson) has told her he loves and gives him every opportunity to back out. But Steve convinces her he is serious and insists her he is going to tell Michelle (Kym Marsh) straight away. Once back at the pub though family life takes over and with Michelle and her family worrying about Maria’s (Samia Smith) scan he realizes that splitting up with Michelle is not going to be easy. Will he ever find the right moment to break the news? Michelle, Barry (Frank Grimes) and Helen (Sorcha Cusack) go with Maria to the hospital for her appointment – she is terrified and almost backs out of it but is eventually persuaded to have the scan and is relieved when everything is fine. Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) returns home from France and is greeted by Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Simon (Alexander Bain) but is surprised when they disappear as soon as Ken (William Roache) arrives. Ken and Blanche (Maggie Jones) fill her in on what has happened whilst she has been away but Deirdre insists they are still going to be part of the boy’s life. Joe (Reece Dynsdale) is having trouble with a credit card company but doesn’t admit it to Gail (Helen Worth). He is quizzed by Tina (Michelle Keegan) and tries to make out everything is fine but she is not convinced. Rosie (Helen Flanagan) gets a visit from Carla (Alison King) and Tony (Gray O’Brien) and is confident that she has them both in the palm of her hand. Tony can see that Carla has no choice but to agree when Rosie asks for a pay rise and he asks Rosie to man the office when he takes Carla on honeymoon. Elsewhere – there is disappointment for Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) but good news for Graeme (Craig Gazey). This episode is written by David Bowker, produced by Kim Crowther and directed by Duncan Foster Last edited: Friday, 7 November 2008 |

Auntie Pam's quite possibly the most annoying character they've had in a long while.
