This is such a peculiar case, and the fact that suddenly she's being painted as this menopausal alcoholic (not my words, horrible) is even stranger with regards to her disappearance.

IF someone has somehow taken/done something to her, this just makes their life a whole lot easier because it just screams to me that nobody official has even a single shred of an idea where she is or what happened. Zero, nothing. Literally vanished into thin air. Scary.

There must be some logic to releasing that information, otherwise it's nothing but cruel to Nicola and her family. I can't think what it could be but you have to hope that they are not just doing it to cover up some of the woeful work they seem to have been doing.

i think they did it to show that whatever happened to her may have been affected by her not thinking clearly

Yes I think they are trying to quell the media speculation and tic tok detectives who were relentless, the detective said she had never known anything like it in 29 years of being on the force and it was a distraction as it seems they were getting a lot of false information and rumours, whilst it is horrible it makes more sense why she would enter the water while previous to this it seemed illogical, just awful for her family
