The company I work for has already decided to go this route voluntarily and has made it permanent that people can choose to work from home whenever we want. It was already part of my contract from the start pre-Covid but I was a special boy back then . It’s basically just my arrangement expanded out for everyone.

Interestingly enough though, most people CHOOSE to be in the office about 50% of the time, Sinai don’t think it’s going to lead to dead cities and everyone working from home all the time.

I’d go in more and probably will at some point. Currently limited by childcare.

Make no difference to me I have worked from home since my youngest son was born and he is 22...so I think I trump your special boy status

I just find it odd as last August Bojo couldn't wait for people to get back to the office, I think it is a red herring myself

It would actually save the company quite a bit of money to go fully online and not keep physical office spaces at all, we really don't NEED them, but have found that people do want the option and like to be there in person to varying degrees. A few people still go in as often as is permitted by whatever-current-covid-says and I imagine will be in the office most of the time if things ever return to any sort of normality .

Personally if childcare wasn't a factor and it was purely my choice, I'd probably go in 1 or 2 days a week. I might start going in for half-days next year when the older one starts high school, as they'll both be out earlier so I can get there for 9 then just take my lunch hour at like 2 and come home.

I'd probably be less inclined to sit here tapping on TiBB if there were other people around .

That's because they wanted people in the cities to keep the highstreet economy going. That's dead in the water now and they're introducing new taxes on online retail, which I think is probably just the start of them finally getting around to monetizing online business, so they're less bothered about people being physically in towns and cities so long as they're on the Digital Highstreet .

…yeah we’re super nice as well……as we’re in a caring/nurturing environment and definitely not a profit marking one …so I didn’t really think about ‘investigating’ ….and obviously it’s not a workplace that working from home is as feasible because it’s workplace based ..but planning time etc/non classroom time could be…some have always practised that in the past before COVID so the interruptions aren’t there etc….as I say, it depends on the job but yeah, also on the trust levels of employers as well …all quite a few levels to it….it’s nice to see that you seem really in tune with your job and loving it……

I'm just still so grateful for the move to be honest Ammi. My old place of employment started automatic disciplinary procedures if you were off for any reason more than twice in 6 months. And the place I was before that (the only other full-time employment I've ever been in) was fine about time off - but I was working 45 hour weeks on a 0-hour contract so didn't get paid if I wasn't there.

…yeah, I’ve lived with that for most of my working life, that nurturing environment that is obviously created for the children but it also extends to staff as well and also to parents…although, I know that all education establishments aren’t the same either and for some education staff, that isn’t the experience they have….how you’ve found that excellent fit with your job now also and how you’re feeling your worth in terms of care is something that will extend to and benefit all around you …..at least what I will say with your previous job…?…is that you thrived anyway in spite of…(…I know there would have been many times when you didn’t feel as though you were…)…but you did and that’s all part of how you’ve made this change happen…I really am thrilled for you…(…and Mrs TS and the little TS ladies….oh and puppy as well…….)……

I've gone into isolation. There are covid cases at my daughter's school and today she has a really nasty cough and runny nose. So taken her for a PCR test before bless her she's only 5 she was screaming at me saying daddy please don't do this I wanna go home it was awful. I got one done too as still got a tickly cough so gonna isolate for the weekend to see where things lie

i still stick to my opinion, that those who socialize most now should have priority for the vaccine (this for me still feels the way to ''kill'' covid to give it less and less room to spread more easily)

also it shouldn't become a compulsory like they in Russia want to do now for bosses to order employees to vaccinate

i myself really don't want it, but i'll happily stick to distancing rules if i go out (on holiday for example)



as for Delta variant, idk why this one is more ''dangerous'' since symptoms are like a regular cold from what i read, i thought SA variant was more dangerous symptoms wise, stomach pains etc

I wasn't thinking of you at all Nicky as you said you are never going abroad again, and it is also a UK thing so not sure why you thought I was talking about you

It was more for young people who want to travel I was referring to

I dont think it has been suggested Delta is more dangerous just more transmissible and they thought it might evade the vaccine but doesn't look like that is the case
