Liverpool FC apologise after their Twitter account 'mocks' Munich air disaster

Liverpool have apologised and launched an investigation after their Twitter account appeared to mock the Munich Air Disaster.
Ahead of Sunday's meeting between the two old rivals @LFC asked fans to suggest three tracks to be played over the Tannoy at Anfield.
One 'fan' responded by suggesting three songs clearly aimed to poke fun at the 1958 tragedy in which eight Reds players and 15 others died.
To the amazement of many the the Liverpool account, which has 1.9m followers, then responded to the 'fan': "Have you been sneaking a look at the dressing room iPod?"
That angered thousands of United fans who inundated the account with complaints and about two hours later the offending tweet was deleted.
This morning Liverpool released this statement to the M.E.N.: "Liverpool Football Club responded quickly to correct the error of judgement that was made last night on it's official Twitter account in responding to a distasteful and inappropriate Tweet. The Club took decisive action and the comment was deleted swiftly.
"We apologise, unreservedly, for any offence that was caused by this mistake."
It is understood that Liverpool officials were stunned when the tweet was brought to their attention.
They have launched an internal investigation into how it happened and are not thought to be ruling out strong action.
The songs were 'Come Fly With Me' by Frank Sinatra, 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' by Eric Idle and 'I Like to Move it' by Reel to Reel.
Idle's song has been adapted by some who chant 'Always Look on the Runway for Ice' while Reel to Reel's 90s dance track has been switched to 'I Like to Munich, Munich' by a sick few.
The episode comes after simmering tensions between fans of the two clubs appeared to cooling.
Last season United fans were praised for their behaviour when the two sides met at Anfield shortly after the results of the Hillsborough Independent Panel's report into the 1989 semi-final disaster, in which 96 Liverpool fans died, were published.
Pre kick-off on Sunday the home side will hold a minute's applause for legendary boss Bill Shankly, who would have been 100 on September 2.
A Manchester United spokesman said: "We welcome the apology."
