170 total ICU/Ventilator patients decrease of 15

255 total on nursing wards decrease of 22

on the ICU/ventilators there are now 578 non-covid patients (37 more than monday's figures interesting to see this we got more non-covid than covid patients on ICU, still hard work for doctors, nurses so with all regular treatments going through again which had been delayed because of covid before


total vaccinations (first and second dose stats combined) 14,3 million out of population of 17 million

it's not a business bubble. 60,000 fans will be able to attend 3 matches at wembley and they can attend from anywhere in the world. With that level of attendance there will be no social distancing

The UK government and Public Health England are monitoring the so-called Delta Plus variant of coronavirus, Downing Street has said.

The prime minister's official spokesman said PHE had already put extra measures in place where the variant had been detected including "enhanced contact tracing, testing, and isolation".

Forty-one cases of the variant have been identified in the UK, he said.

Asked whether the government was concerned the UK was being taken off the equivalent of the green list of travel restrictions in other countries due to a rise in coronavirus cases, the PM's spokesman said it was a "decision fundamentally for individual countries and governments to take".

"We're working hard to use our vaccination programme and other methods to get this more transmissible variant [Delta] under control.

Delta plus has also been found in nine other countries - the US, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Poland, Nepal, Russia and China. The original highly contagious Delta strain has now spread to 80 countries.

I think you said yourself India went on the red list too late...people find a way around it by flying to another country and travelling onwards, the UK now has a very stringent policy coming inwards ...3 tests in 8 days from an amber country ...and its still got in

there are still an awful lot of unvaccinated people, so these numbers are going to increase

They're trying to get the vaccine to anyone who hasn't had it yet.

the best scenario is they get 90% of adults vaccinated, that still leaves something like 5/6 million that are vulnerable to covid. So yes, its great so many are vaccinated, but the hospital numbers etc have a long way to increase when we remove all restrictions

Yes, I think thats the best we can hope for.
There will alqebe some people who refuse the vaccine.
Like my sister, she got scared about the blood clots that have been happening.

They’re not high but they have increased over time… so they’re not flat.

To be honest though, anything under 50 isn’t beyond the scope of what you would expect with a new respiratory virus on the scene permanently - would put respiratory deaths at about 1/3 higher than they were pre-Covid.
