Really? Well that will be something. The cases Manchester are still ridiculously high, particularly in the Uni areas BUT they are dropping week on week now finally after being local locked down since August but the Manchester Evening News are still saying we will be Tier 3 along with Liverpool and parts of Yorkshire. It doesn't make much difference to me as I haven't been out to a pub or restaurant since this started but Tier 3 also stops all non professional sport and so my kid will be climbing the walls again :worried:

the final decisions will be made at the cobra meeting this morning, but my feeling is that they will only put areas in tier 3 that are rising heavily. If they are tailing off or reducing, it will be tier 2

What will be will be, I guess. If its for the greater good etc. I just feel for all those people in the industries that will be affected.

My dad has this theory. He is probably wrong. But then a lot of it also makes sense. So thought Id share

Liverpool and Manchester are successful cities and thriving at least they were before the pandemic. As a northener I love both of these cities very much and im regularly at both.

Yet these cities have "apparently" got higher rates than everywhere else. While this is probably the case I just cant imagine London not having the same amount of cases if not more?? I think numbers are being kept on the down low unless numbers have been exaggarated in the northern cities

Anyway just bear in mind whats happening with HS2...

Could it be this three tier thing is to ensure bankruptcy to the thriving northern cities, therefore allowing the rich Londoners to swoop in and take whats there for the picking and they have a nice easy journey now with a super speedy train...

Im not saying coronavirus is a hoax but the situation could definitely be put in certain peoples favour and people could be monopolizing the situation

And call me cynical but this three tier system does it remind anyone of the three tier system we had in the past of top class, middle class and working class

Me and my dad may be wrong but it does kind of make sense. Just keep on eye on how often we hear about the north being the problem. Yet we dont gear an awful lot about the bustling London...

...I don’t know, I think that in a study of particular regions/areas etc...lifestyles would be a thing as well...the differences in socialising in regions...?...so much has been often applied to ‘within the home’ as well..so that would differ from region to region as other factors would...but yeah, so many theories will be had because we just don’t know...

no lockdown here, but there will be stricter measures in netherlands

i very much doubt we will have mask requirement if it's up to dumb idiots like Rutte, RIVM director jaap van dissel, latter didn't even wear a mask to the meeting this morning, while every other member of parliament did

i feel ashamed i live in a country with so many people here who care more about their freedom than their health

or maybe people in the South are observing the rules more, you said yourself hardly anyone is wearing a mask, I would say its 95 per cent compliance when I am out and about , so if they are not wearing masks you have to ask yourself are they complying with any rules at all

the government does not make people in the north so ill that they have to be admitted to hospital with covid

There is a simple solution to avoid covid .... social distance ... it's not hard to understand. For weeks all we heard about in the news was all the illegal parties people were having in manchester, and then they wonder why they get sick

Also, by default, people are much less social in the south than they are in the north. People don't tend to collect in each others houses, in the north, they do

Northern towns and cities have been locked down with fewer covid cases per capita, than Johnsons or Raabs constituencies.

I think that is the crux of it really

I think its really tough of businesses both North and South who have invested into making their premises covid secure to be hammered in this way

no i am really hoping current RIVM director will be sacked and replaced with someone more qualified, someone more pro-mask requirements

also awkward when Dr Anthony Fauci knows our current RIVM director well, he also does not understand why he doesn't advise on mask requirements

which is what Fauci said in a livefeed interview with some of our reporters, what he thinks of our current situation
