Craig Bellamy has taken a step closer to making a dramatic return to Liverpool after Manchester City agreed to let him leave for nothing.

City are prepared to negotiate a settlement with Bellamy, covering the remaining 10 months of his £95,000-a-week contract, to get him off their wage bill.

This will clear the way for the Wales striker to return to Anfield on a free transfer, four years after he was sold following a fall-out with manager Rafa Benitez.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is interested in signing Bellamy, but is not prepared to pay a fee for the much-travelled striker, who was dubbed the ‘Nutter with the Putter’ after allegedly hitting team-mate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a row.

A few days later, Bellamy celebrated scoring in a Champions League win over Barcelona in the Nou Camp by mimicking a golf swing.

Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton has signed a four-year deal with Premier League rivals QPR.


Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has completed a loan move to AC Milan, the Italian side have confirmed.

The 27-year-old has joined until next summer, with an option to extend his stay until June 2014.

Milan can make the Italy international's move permanent if he makes at least 25 appearances for this them this season.

Don't know why they are trying to get Park Chu-Young he's got an average goalscoring record at best for club and Country, 12 goals in 35 games and 0 Assists in the french league last year.. 0 Assists in 35 Games and only 26 goals in 103 games for Monaco? haven't seen him play apart from the 2010 world cup and he looked pretty slow and average then don't know how he would improve the Arsenal team at all

Chelsea have had an offer rejected for the Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles of £7m plus Yossi Benayoun as a makeweight.

The London club will continue to talk to Liverpool in the hope of making progress for Meireles, as they look to close the transfer window with a flourish, but Benayoun is unlikely to be part of any deal – Liverpool sold the midfielder to Chelsea last summer for £5m and they have the first option on him but they do not appear to want him back.
