Yes, that would be very wise. I think most of his were always indoor. Those type of events are usually at night when most classes are finished, aside from the table-style events. What ever happened to common decency...? The biggest irony of all this is that every time some violent hate crime happens, the majority of the time it never comes from Trump's side/or his supporters. The other side celebrate a human being's death (in this case it being an iconic commentator, a husband, a father and a son), they view Trump & his allies as being the most terrible people to exist, yet do they not ever notice the way they behave?

Charlie Kirk received hate from these people for being a powerful, strong-willed and opinionated man who they simply disagreed with and couldn't stand it. I definitely don't agree with everything he stood for either, but what happened to him was an absolute tragedy.

Students who debated with Charlie Kirk mourn his death…

Four months ago, Charlie Kirk debated with students at the University of Cambridge on views including abortion, women's rights and religion. On Wednesday, the 31-year-old right-wing American activist was fatally shot while speaking on stage in Utah. While these students disagreed with many of his views, they have unequivocally condemned the shooting and recognised his commitment to peaceful debate.


In May, Kirk was invited to the Cambridge Union for a question and answer debate event.
Sammy McDonald was the last student due to debate with him, and the US support of Israel's campaign in Gaza was a focal point of their discussion.
The History student told the BBC: "Nothing - political or otherwise - can ever justify such a horrendous act or the ruination of the lives of those close to him.
"Political disagreement cannot be, and must never be, a death sentence.
"Even in deeply polarised times, we must never lose sight of our humanity and our respect for the sanctity of all human life."

He said while Kirk was someone he "profoundly" disagreed with, he respected his commitment to the power of debate.
"We both recognised that the ability to debate ideas freely, to speak your mind without fear of violence is what distinguished democracy from tyranny and is the foundation on which the American republic and the liberal tradition is built."
Referencing the deaths of MPs Jo Cox (Labour) and Sir David Amess (Conservative), he said young people were growing up in a world "sullied by increasing political violence and poisoned political discourse".
"One of the most surprising experiences from my encounter with Kirk was the magnanimity and generosity of his many supporters, who were willing to talk to me, listen to me and acknowledge peaceful disagreement, even changing our preconceptions about each other."

Kai Bevan, 20, a third-year medical student, debated with Kirk over his views on abortion.
"Never in a million years would I have thought something like that would happen.
"We had our differences, but the expression of those kinds of views should never entail a death sentence. I was mortified."
He said others he had spoken to have been similarly "shocked" at the incident.
"What affects me most is the fact that someone who, in a non-violent way, goes to college campuses and expresses his views - yes he's known to be inflammatory, but he's not known to incite violence or physical harm or suffering - and for someone who just does that to lose their life really warrants self-reflection as a society."

When Archie Mackintosh opened his question for Kirk, he admitted he was a "little nervous".
"There's a real chance I could wake up tomorrow front page of YouTube: 'Charlie Kirk owns manbun idiot with facts and logistics'," he said.
Kirk jokingly suggested an alternative: "Destroys."
The 23-year-old from Norfolk exchanged opinions on marriage and society generally. He said he had yet to process Kirk's death.
"Despite the fact that I disagree with a lot of his opinions, maybe most of them, he was generally so driven about trying to make the world a better place in his eyes."
Inflicting violence on someone you think is spreading harmful rhetoric, "will only turn them into a hero", he added.
"I think it will make people think, 'Wow', they were speaking so much truth that they had to be silenced.
"Even if you're 100% convinced that everything someone is saying will contribute negatively to the world, trying to silence them is not going to work."

Tilly Middlehurst, wearing a knitted cream jumper stitched with the stars and stripes of the United States, asked Kirk about religion, his views on the changing roles of women in society, and what defined a woman.
"I'm a feminist," she said, in opening her question.
She shared her thoughts following his death with her 91,100 followers on Instagram, external, and said it had left her "shaken and disgusted".
"Regardless of how you feel about Kirk, about violence, about politics, this was disastrous," she said.
Speaking to the BBC, she said this is not what politics "should look like".
"Political violence like this affects all of us, it doesn't just affect the people that you disagree with.
"This isn't a step in the right direction. This is fighting fascism."

I didn't understand him that well. I don't think others around me followed him that closely either, but we all understand the meaning behind being willing to sit at the table to have that conversation in this country. People are upset about what has happened. So many have been upset. I think this is more likely than not to have the complete reverse effect of what they've intended. Yes, there may be some incidents after, but this is going to change how we all approach our own politics in this country. Especially now that people are more encouraged now more than ever to do some basic research before having the thought of "HMMM, is killing this person JUSTIFIED?"... because that is the slope we are on and it's starting to feel slippier...

And they'd better stop listening to the idiots who call for things, because it very well could be anyone that gets called... imagine any one of us had written something that gets misconstrued or we had been involved an incident where only a few seconds of footage is spread.. people think they're safe because they covet certain views, but that's certainly not true. It would take very little for their lives to be turned upside down based on a lie. A mob doesn't discriminate, no matter what it may look like to us online, there won't be any 'sides' when it kicks off...

What boggles my mind is our politicians are aware of this. Law enforcement are absolutely aware of this. If the mob thinks something needs to be justified, they'll come for anyone. It's just that people are so used to seeing people like civil servants, our politicians, our police officers, election workers, social workers, etc being dehumanized. One side or the other may say they support police. No one supports the police when they're pissed off enough and the politicians are usually first in line for have calls for their heads. People had said Bush should be assassinated were common enough during the Iraq War and it came from both sides: the "war crimes" crowd and the people upset about the Patriot Act. When I walked around DC during the Obama-era, I used to signage to that effect and also posters with politicians and other figures with crosshairs over their faces...

So that should give us an impression of just how unserious these people were about their own rhetoric and when listening to any of these figures, it's best to give it a grain of salt. I listened yesterday to Ben Shapiro he ever expected they or people like him were actually in danger(?) in America. Mind-boggling. Hopefully that forces some people to think carefully about where we go from here because now we've seen how far this can actually go, but I'm not very hopeful...

I wouldn't trust the right-leaning figures are being wholly honest either because we've seen when violence goes off in the public, what their reactions are... imagine covering major riots and political scenarios in troubled cities where they are claiming things are at a level that are serious enough to call the National Guard (some of what I don't disagree with because of current police dept levels being trash) and how attacks on civil servants like LEOs are unjustified.. then saying in the same breath they didn't think the political environment was bad enough they were in danger... that should tell us something about what they actually believe...

He rides through the block and the neighborhood on his motorcycle very brightly lit up, usually with two giant flags: American & Mexican and his speakers going... and he alternates between Tejano music (& Michael Jackson songs (he's a big MJ fan). But for a while on Thursdays, he used to run a Tejano/DJ station and he would put his own playlist out to other people and talk over it... or maybe he was just recording, but whatever the case, I enjoy his music and his bike rides... just hearing them outside my window and seeing them makes me feel happier.

At this point I'm questioning their intelligence level. It's been a few years, but the human on the bottom right is very much the "good guy" for what I guess would be called today the "disenfranchised". His whole entire adventure is based around him more or less fighting tyranny and oppression without going corrupt himself. It being a Japanese game (97'), I'm fairly certain they weren't thinking at all about gendered race wars and other pedantic culture war **** while it was being developed.

This isn't an actual quote in the game, but I just find it so ironic some are so very concerned about the misuse of words and misconstrued logic. And yet it's becoming increasingly clear to me the people largely driving this crap are dumbasses who spend way too much time in their basement modifying reality to nurse a unique martyr complex loosely based around some political agenda. Imagine taking a decades old game and trying to make it fit within the scope of today's politics. If you're a historian today, how do you wrap your head around this phenomenon?

The pages with normal hobbies and topics are not attracting this behavior. However, go to the anime & game-y pages and they all seem to be no go zones because they're full of propaganda and people with weird behavioral complexes reacting in a butthurt manner. Are these people just spending that much time consuming media that their brains are warped? Is this why they're so stupid??

The problem with the algorithms is that they're shoving this crap at everyone despite whatever their purpose of being on that website actually is.

It's the exact same on X but from the other end of the political spectrum. It's clear those people consume way too much news and are constantly looking for details and information to twist and turn into some kind of culture war garbage. It's no wonder why some people are being "radicalized" if they're rapidly being exposed to these divisions in this way within minutes of logging in daily. Especially when it's targeting our young.

In the late 90s when computers/internet usage was coming into wide use, we banned chatrooms and chatservers over liability problems because the terminally online crazies took them over and behaved in the same sociopathic ways: doxing, abusive posts, stalking, harassment campaigns, etc. This became untenable and because they became a breeding ground for abuse and a safety issue for children, they were closed. Now we let these elements dictate and manage the political discourse around our most precious institutions. Is it really a surprise we've gone the way we have with this at the helm?

I'm thinking I'll check and see what is going on with legislation. Maybe even write and suggest changes, because as it is platforms are incentivized to cater to internet addiction. While we can't do anything about stupidity, we really should think about how we can go about preventing it from having such an outsized influence on our political discourse.


Maybe there's some perfect solution to be had for many of the topics at the forefront.. but I wouldn't know that as a casual observer, because the system as it's currently designed solely caters to appeasing and keeping amused the most gullible and socially bereft in our society. (Sorry for the language, but just trying to get my actual sentiment across)
