Just when we thought Eminem had fully escaped his demons following the release of his multiplatinum 2010 album Recovery, Marshall Mathers takes his own life with a single gunshot to the head in his new "Space Bound" video, which is now available on iTunes.
The video is a gut-wrenching look into another of Eminem's tumultuous relationships, much like the one exhibited in the video for "Love the Way You Lie" — this time with deadly results. Filmed in Los Angeles in February, the Joseph Kahn-directed clip starts with our leading man walking down a foggy road in the middle of the night. Obviously perturbed, a sullen Em marches on, hands in his pockets, until a passing car picks him up. In the driver's seat is the Detroit rapper's love interest, played by porn star Sasha Grey. Things clearly aren't all peaches and cream. Eminem jumps in the front passenger seat, with a pensive look on his face, while another, more cynical version of Em rides in the back. The differences between the two Shadys are apparent. The front-seat version is calm, with his eyes darting back and forth between his girlfriend and the gun that sits in the glove compartment. The other Em is riled up, hurling insults at Grey, though she is unaware of his presence. As the couple pulls up to a pit stop, Grey exits the vehicle first with a gun in her back pocket, while Em follows her. They enter a diner, Grey first and the rapper a few steps behind. Here, the director splits the screen and the two Eminems go their separate ways, one to the counter and the other to the booth where his girlfriend sits, texting on her cell phone. Eminem grows suspicious of the texts and checks his girl's phone after she gets up to go to the bathroom. The rapper apparently finds what he has long suspected: His woman is cheating. Throughout the video, Eminem follows Grey like a lost puppy. It's when they check into a motel room that the drama unfolds. Closing the door behind him, Eminem begins to attack his girlfriend before realizing that she wasn't even there in the first place. Left at the end of his rope, Eminem pulls out the gun, puts it to his chin and fires a single shot through his own head. Blood splatters, and Shady falls to the floor. Simultaneously, the alternate Eminem, who is still seated at the counter, is struck by the bullet as well, falling back off of his bar stool before the clip rewinds back to the beginning of the 4:30 video, where we once again see our leading man walking down that foggy road in the middle of the night. Did Eminem imagine the entire ordeal? Or did his cheating girlfriend metaphorically kill the hopeless romantic, leaving only a distrustful version of himself? The image is jarring; the interpretation, however, is up to you.

Sasha Grey offers her thoughts.
There have been quite a few takes on the meaning Eminem's "Space Bound" video, in which we see two sides of a suicidal, love-torn rapper. Since the clip hit iTunes on Friday, fans have taken to comment sections dishing out theories about its meaning. Some have said this is another depiction of Em's relationship with ex-wife Kim Mathers, while others likened the clip to a video game. And Eminem's co-star in the video, Sasha Grey, has her own take on the video. Grey, who no longer works in porn, is now expanding her acting chops. She appeared, as did Em, on the seventh season of HBO's hit series "Entourage," and though the two never met on set, she got the offer to star in "Space Bound" at the request of the video's director, Joseph Kahn. The clip features alternate versions of the Detroit MC, one agitated and cynical in the company of his girlfriend (played by Grey), the other more pensive and calm. "You can read into it a few different ways, but I imagine one character is actually him, and the other is his subconscious," Grey said. Things begin to take a turn for the worse when the rapper discovers the love of his life is cheating on him. He later attacks her, then turns a gun on himself and commits suicide with a single shot through the head. "Space Bound," like "Love the Way You Lie" depicts a tumultuous relationship in which domestic violence once again is a topic. "Em simply becomes company for her, and she mistakenly takes advantage of that," Grey says of her character. "Before each take, Joseph and I would talk a lot about her motives and attitude. Her ultimate moment doesn't come until the end, so I had plenty of time to build the fear!" Grey doesn't have a clear-cut explanation of the video, but she ultimately sees "Space Bound" from a pessimistic view — hopeless romantics take heed. "I don't know if it necessarily has a thorough message, but I think it shows that even the strongest of love meets destruction at some point," the ex-porn star told MTV News. "Whether or not you come out of it together and whole is an entirely different question." Source: MTV

Eminem: 'Space Bound' video still
Eminem has been branded "evil" by parenting groups after portraying suicide in his new music video for 'Space Bound'. The 38-year-old rapper premiered the promo earlier this week, which sees him have a split personality only for one half of him to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. Eminem also hallucinates strangling his on-screen girlfriend, played by porn star Sasha Grey. Parenting groups have now criticised the video for portraying violence against women and showing an extreme method of suicide. "People who do this are really quite evil. Children are influenced by the things they see. If we feed violence, it becomes strong. Like an addiction," a spokesperson for Mothers Against Violence told The Mirror. "It's all about the money with these videos. Eminem isn't thinking about the families affected. It's selfish – it comes to a point when selfishness becomes evil." The 'Space Bound' video was directed by Joseph Khan and shot in Los Angeles back in February. 'Space Bound' is the fourth single to be taken from Eminem's chart-topping album Recovery, which was released last summer. Source: DS They can all go **** themselves, if they spent more time looking after their Kids than moaning about other people you wouldnt have crazy ass people going into schools shooting the place up. Saps.

Just thinking Eminem hasnt been this controversial since way back when.
1. The GaGa diss. 2. Collaborating with Bruno Mars. 3. Concert in Northern Ireland under threat. 4. Being called Evil for 'glorifying suicide'. Maybe he's gonna get really ****ing angry again.

Chrysler is not alone in trying to keep others from stepping on elements of its iconic "Imported from Detroit" Super Bowl ad.
Eminem, who proudly touted his gritty home town in the ad, is trying to stop Audi from using an unauthorized interpretation of his Lose Yourself -- the heartbeat of the Chrysler ad -- in an ad showing a 2012 Audi A6 Avant wagon cruising the streets of Berlin. Eight Mile Style, the Ferndale, Mich.-based company that handles his song licensing, sued in Germany a few weeks ago and this week, filed a motion in a German court this week to quash the ad. Since imitation in advertising is as common, and hard to fight, as it is in TV sit-coms or movies -- and one thing the Audi ad doesn't clone is the trademark Detroit tagline -- Chrysler has taken no legal action. But we'd guess it's not unhappy that Eight Mile is giving Audi a hard time. We've included the video above. The Chrysler ad is below. Drive On thinks it proves again that -- also as with sit-coms or movies -- sequels are a bad idea. What do you think? ![]()
