The MEN says that filming on the Coronation Street set will stop tomorrow (4 March) as staff tune in to a video conference about ITV's financial situation. Job cuts are expected in non-production roles at Granada, as ITV has been affected by the global economic situation and the downturn in advertising revenue (down 30% in the first three months of this year).

There's also speculation that ITV could sell off some of the land it holds in Manchester, including the Quay Street offices and the Coronation Street set. An industry commentator said, "It is commonly felt that the head office and Coronation Street set is no longer fit for modern television." If this happens, production of Corrie could possibly be moved to the MediaCityUK development in Salford Quays.

Yes the Media Guardian (better than that blog)
says it is safe but cut back are possible every place.

More like they will keep Manchester
and Moth Ball the part of the massive Yorkshire site
they need to halt to save funds
under this UK New Labour Depression.

I think a lot of the production will head to media city, especially Coronation Street, as it has been rumoured to happen in years, apparently, Emmerdale will move to its own studio if the Leeds site is closed

You have to wait for the News
at this time the best report on this Cut Back
is on the Media Guardian link.
They have a Manchester Channel on Sky.

Many workers are in a Panic

It's all due to the Bloated Greedy BBC
who keep all their cash we the public have to pay.

The BBC ain't what it used to be
and ITV is better in many ways.

If £150/year damages your pocket then you need to find a new job

No license fee for the BBC would kill commercial TV in the UK

No Sky don't want to help ITV, they want their money. Thats what business is all about, getting more money for your own company.

Sky is out of its share in ITV
now.

So they can not help ITV.

Of course its about money.

SkyNews
is now giving all Commercial Radio stations
there SkyRadio News service
which helps them stay ahead
of the Bloated BBC.

Because it is True.
They are over large and not giving the Public
enough
We have to fund them.

If they aren't giving the public enough then why is BBC1 the most watched channel in the country?

Does about £2 a week really like a big hole in your pocket?

Can you see the need for a BBC, ie commercial TV would die without it?

Why keep
writing
like this?

No channel is the most watched
at some times in a day some do well.

Yes that money goes to the BBC to show repeats in a Evening
at Peak times.
I do not want repeats my Money.

I want a Refund.
