Me old Mum has just been moved from the hosp to respite care today and despite being double jagged and like Boris having had covid I now cant see her for 2 weeks as she has to isolate!

I was reading yesterday about all the Australians and NZ citizens stranded across the world as they can’t access quarantine when they fly home, it’s a human right abuse imo

Supermarkets have warned they will have to cut opening hours or even shut shops if the number of workers forced to self-isolate continues to rise.

M&S said the number of workers being notified by the NHS app is rising exponentially, and it may have to reduce hours if there are shortages.

A leading supermarket, which declined to be named, said it could lead to massive disruption of food supplies.

"And there's a risk that there won't be sufficient staff to open shops."

Last week, over 500,000 alerts were sent to users of the NHS Test and Trace app in England and Wales for the week to 7 July, a rise of 46% on the previous week.

M&S chief executive Steve Rowe told The Times that the number of people being forced to self-isolate is "a major issue across every industry at the moment".

He said: "Our Covid cases are roughly doubling every week and the pinging level is about three to one of Covid cases, so we're seeing that growing exponentially."

He said: "If there's shortages we'll have to manage it by changing hours of stores, reducing hours."

From 16 August, people who have been fully vaccinated will not have to self-isolate if they are "pinged" by the NHS app when they have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid. They will instead be advised to take PCR test as soon as possible.

it's absolutely not advisory, you are instructed to isolate and you must do it. You don't of course need to download the app and you can delete it at any time, so in that situation, it's pointless if you want to break the rules

Its is advisory. If you are "pinged" you're advised - but not legally obliged - to self-isolate for 10 days.

Only if you are contacted by T & T is it mandatory

Honestly don't understand this at all, surely this piloting of lateral flow tests for 5 days should come into play here for both of you and if both clear given you are both double jabbed you could visit

social distancing is no longer a legal requirement from midnight, people are hardly going to take any notice of it 12 hours before its ending

I went in this morning to take in nighties etc (before she arrived) so i was fine to go in and i had been in to see her in the hospital on Friday
