It's just balancing the numbers

left hand side

2 C2H6 + 7 O2

2 * C * 2 = 4 C's
2 * H * 6 = 12 H's
7 * O * 2 = 14 O's

so it is the same both sides:

right hand side

4 CO2 + 6 H2

4 * C = 4 C's
(4 * O * 2 = 8 O) + (6 * O = 6 O) = 14 O's
6 * H * 2 = 12 H's
