I would assume so.

I mean, you can always throw the argument of lower ratings across the board out there. An episode of Doctor Who only got something like 2.8m this year and that used to get 8m and higher.
Still though, Love Island is getting freakishly high ratings. The thing I don't get is that it gets praised for doing things that viewers of BB always criticise the show for.

I don't remember anyone criticising Big Brother for ever having slick production, or effort being put into it, or good promotion, or a balanced edit, or knowing its audience and format. That's because Big Brother in the last few years has had/done neither of those things whereas LI has. That's why it's rating well.

No I mean more a series full of model types, with mostly bland personalities and the entire format being based around the idea of showmances. I don't get it.

You haven't even watched an episode for you to judge their personalities. SHUT UP BIG GOB!

And I don't think the problem with BB is model types, but more reality stars. BB13's cast was filled with model types and it was the best series C5 have given us.

Love Island is NOT Big Brother though - the show isn't based around being disconnected from the real world, that's why no one kicks up a fuss when they get to read tweets. The show is a dating show for young couples, that's why the cast is all young.

2.1 million isn't freakishly high though is it really?

Not defending BB but the press and buzz around Love Island are talking like its getting 10 million lol its all hype which will probably die off in the next 2 series.

People like LI bc it's fresh and well made, and doesn't pretend to be something it's not like BB does
