It was an accusation that warranted an investigation. Also, as has been pointed out it was the young mans parent who made many complaints, including telling Edwards to not contact the young man. Anger is not the appropriate response.

That’s because they’ve looked at the ‘evidence’ and spoken to the people involved and have found no evidence of the crime he was accused of committing

trying to add a bit of balance, we don't know the extent of any mental issues he may have. It could be seen as a convenient excuse, it could in the circumstances be a reality.

If having these mental health issues means that he can bow out of presenting on the BBC then it's probably the best outcome because i don't think the general public would be particularly welcoming if he appeared back in his current role as if nothing had happened

I've deliberately said nothing here and waited to see how this all went and what was said by authorities like the police as to the issue.

I think you are likely more right as to what you've said above and as to the possible weekend events.

I can't say I approve of whatever it appears he has been involved with as to the original lad or any possible others.
However I think this does need careful sensitivity for all sides to now deal with and work through it in as much a private way as it possibly can be.
