Lostprophets are pop rock too, really, if you want to go into genres like that. Very, very hook centric hard rock songs, clean cut image, lyrics that recycle words like 'hope', 'mountains' and 'heartbreak' ...

... the lot.

I think you may take things a little too seriously.

The world aint out to get ya.

The point being genres can be silly given how subjective they are with something like metal. Metal is metal. Most of it sounds like something else and we really don't need the amount of genres that we do, IMHO.

It's a way for elitists to sound elite. And that's only really fun with electronic music. [elitism]There's only so many ways you can tune a guitar[/elitism].

I was completely calm about it.
I simply told you I wasn't being "anal" about the whole genre thing lol. >.<

"MTV Rocks" may or may not be a misleading name, but I LOVE it anyway! That and NME are really the only ywo channels I watch.

I dislike how many subgenres there are aswell, but there is a huge difference between metalcore and normal rock, I was just explaining that LP aren't metalcore. :P
The difference is as big as Rap and Death metal.

I wasn't even talking about metalcore. More making a general statement directed at nobody in particular.

What on earth is 'normal rock'?

Idk, it's just the bands that pop up in my head when I think of rock, for example Foo Fighters.

I suppose. 'Normal rock' to me conjures up images of The Pidgeon Detectives, Scouting For Girls, those ones that done sung 'Chelsea Dagger' and any other 'insert your band here', 3PM festival slotting, personality devoid douchebags.

I'd say they were more Indie, or 'Indie Disco'

I'd say they are more steaming bags of piss. That kind of indie is a bizarre oxymoron. As soon as it becomes indie it stops becoming indie.

Yeah, hated that period in 06 I think it was, when a lot of bands like that came out. The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs ect

True, although they play some decent bands from time to time. Just gotta get past all the emo crap like Paramore and All Time Low first.

This is how I feel!
My bf's brother is ALWAYS correcting me when I describe music, because I label my music like "pop", "indie", "rock", "electro", "R&B", "soul", "jazz", "blues" etc. & generally don't bother with going into subgenres.
