My young brother sucked his thumb til he was 9 years old and only stopped when he got his tonsils out and couldn't swallow after the op.

Maybe there is a good reason for that - maybe she used to suck her thumb - doesn't now - but pretends she does for effect and sympathy from the bleeding hearts!

If I may, a little point on thumb sucking. It is a very hard addiction to break. There is nothing "not normal" about it, it is a very common habit starting from birth, a lot of thumb suckers do it in private, especially at night in bed, it helps to go to sleep.It does not always affect your teeth either.

Now, I know all of this as I am a "normal" straight toothed thumb sucker of over half a century.

Josie thumbs sucks more than anyone I have ever seen in my life before, but it may be down to the stresses of the BB house and the one sided romance.
