I had to go five hours yesterday without a cigarette on the way back from London. This was because my train was delayed by an hour (nothing to do with the weather either... just "signalling errors"). I also didn't have a seat for most of the journey. It put me in a completely foul mood.

As if that wasn't enough, arriving in Sunderland at 11pm instead of 10pm (when it SHOULD HAVE arrived), I had to pay a tariff 2 price for the taxi.

My friend bought me loads of packs back cheap but they went today... I swear I had loads left in my draw but I obviously had used them all - and that's made me realise I'm smoking more than I used to. must of got through 15ish a day - which is alot seeing as I started on a few a week and then a few a day... I'm quite shocked. Now I'm buying them again I guess I'll cut down.

And in relation to the anti's post - it's just a nice habit, and while I want to smoke, I will. You can't beat having one in the morning, or 2 in a row when you haven't smoked in a few hours/days... or one after sex is a combination made in heaven.

Nobody in my original group smoked. Nobody.

Smokers are a minority compared to non smokers in most places. I have never known someone in the real world - that is to say not in a government statistic - to smoke just to fit in.

I smoke because I enjoy it. Millions do. It's that simple. We are a very underrated, unrecorded statistic that people would rather not believe exists. Everything you are saying is unsourced, largely unfounded, and based on traditional, dog eared anti smoking rhetoric.

I hate the moaning from non smokers about smokers...I really do. Why do you care if I chose to poison myself and probably cut my life in half or something

At work at the weekend, I had some up herself bloody freak lecturing me on the harm I am doing to myself...despite me telling her in nicer terms that I really couldnt give a **** and its my choice. She then said 'well think of your kids' (?!). Erm...dear...I have no kids, now please disappear.

Some might have done it to fit in originally but not after a while.

I know I did it to fit in, but I'm glad because I enjoy smoking.

Like Stu said, the people who do it to fit in won't do it for long.

So when you say 'the rest of the world', that is incorrect.

Maybe you should put what you want to say in a more explained and understandable way. Instead of no caps and full stops when you're very capable of doing so.

On the whole 'smoking to look cool thing'...I admit part of the reason I tried it because most of my mates did, along with other reasons. However, I continued because I enjoy it. Had I not enjoyed it no way would I have continued doing it just to fit in.

I actually remember the first cigarette I ever had too
