Well, I've seen a lot of them so that saves me some time. But I am a BIG horror fan so I have noted down all the films here I haven't seen and will watch them at some point.

I watched it all the time when I was little, then went years without watching it and watched it again at age 20 and was horrified at how violent and disturbing it is. I don't know why it didn't terrify me as a child.

It started off really creepy and promising, but got a bit silly towards the end. Basically the kid is in a coma of sorts, but creepy paranormal stuff is happening because of it.

If you want creepy you could do worse than giving The Others a go, its only 12 rated but only one of a handful of films that has genuinely made me jump out of my skin over the past 20 years.

If you want gore there is only one choice - cannibal holocaust, or if you can stomach it, a serbian film.

If you want ghosts - paranormal activity 1

Or you could go old school and watch Nightmare on Elm St

"The Awakening" - similar to "The Others" kind of plot but much better I thought. Not horror more suspense but still a great watch.

The twist got me at the end good and proper.
