One of the highest rates of teenage conceptions in the region, very high unemployment and NEETs rates and average lifespan around 10 years lower than a few miles down the road. All the indicators.

Of the secondary schools that served the area two were faith schools, one Catholic, one CofE. Neither of those would agree to taking on the sex education curriculum. All the studies seem to show that better sex education reduces teen conceptions, and combining it with it with relationship education reduces abuse and can lead to girls especially, feeling less pressured into sex before they're emotionally ready.

So frustrating.

Omg, my daughters sex education started last year when she was 8... We've actually just been discussing what she learnt today... She's absolutely outraged to have discovered how babies are actually born... And even moreso by the fact that her dad and I must have had sex! Lol.. The look on her face was one of utter disgust!
