The ratings are always bad for the first highlights after the launch, mainly I think, because they've got hardly any new footage to show.

845k (4.1%) between 9.30pm and 10.30pm (+1: 107k/0.7%). :/

The way people go on though, you'd think every other show averaged 5 million.. football killed pretty much everything last night, My Sisters Keeper had 400k or so less viewers than BB and BBC2 had a million viewers for French and Saunders... Big Brother wasn't the only show to struggle

Are repeats and an old film supposed to bring in viewers though? They're not the channels biggest shows, they're schedule fillers because they know football is on.

Big Brother is supposed to be channel 5's biggest show.

Well, Dirty Dancing brought in 1.6 million viewers last night for 5, so.. yes?

What? You think BBC2 thought they'd get bumper ratings for a cheap repeat of French and Saunders? No, there's a reason they stick repeats on for cheap schedule filling.

We wasn't talking about French and Saunders, we were talking about old films getting good/bad ratings

I've never understood them playing into the public perception of the show which furthers the bad reputation the show has.

I'm surprised they haven't gone all out and built a sex den.

It hit me again when I was listening to the American podcast earlier with someone who's watching BBUK for the first time and was having it explained by a couple of guys who started watching a couple of years back and when I was listening and hating half of what they were saying I was thinking "I don't recognise this show anymore and I'm not sure I like it"

Yet I continue to watch. My loyalty is too strong.

I feel the exact same way Marsh! I'm honestly just watching out of loyalty now, and out of fear that it's going to be the last series ever since the cast is so poor, so I don't want to miss that, if that makes sense. Sad times

Yeah, I actually thought BB11/UBB whilst not a perfect series by any means, was quite a decent send off for it.

It definitely needed a break for a few years. Channel 5 bringing it back so soon and cramming so many series in such a short space of time didn't help at all.

Yeah I actually loved BB11, and the only Channel 5 series that lived up to Channel 4 standards for me was BB14, it had such an amazing cast.

See, I felt exactly the same as you during the first celeb series and BB12 when channel 5 first took it. Literally just watched out of loyalty but knew it was awful. Since then except Rylan and *****die shore's series, I've loved c5 BB

I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. Big Brother has always had fame-wannabe housemates, even the first series.

Look at BB7 - for instance - the number of housemates that had sought fame in some way, it even was a running joke amongst the housemates that a lot of them used to hang out at Chinawhites club in London.

The housemates tend to look all the same on opening night - probably more so in recent series to be fair, but the differences soon emerge.

Fame hungry doesn't really bother me, it's when the house is crawling with them and they're so self aware (which is obviously a natural byproduct of the show running for so long) and the channel 5 style just makes it feel more fake to me.

Like when I watch clips of BBUS I feel like I'm watching a scripted show like The Hills or something, that's what BBUK is morphing into and I don't like it.

I detested it from when it started on c5 until last year. I found the CBB's mostly decent but BB12 and 13 I actually couldn't finish, found them awful.

BB14 I really enjoyed but I'm getting the feeling I'm back to not liking it.

The last 2 bb's were the best ever in my view. including the celeb one which i usually dislike. it would be a big shame if it suddenly got canned after such a big high. last years was big news .

fame hungry doesn't matter. nothing matters really except the characters of the housemates and the twists.
i think people tunned in to see if they could relate to any of them and saw a load of business people with good looks and thought thats not me. and switched off.
bb's fault if this is the last . people want people they can releate too. hard to relate to millionaire bores managers. its not the apprentice.
thats why the winner is never those kind of people.

BB11/UBB were both tragic and weren't in anyway, shape or form a good 'send off'

Well I thought they were and they were head and shoulders above the 4 years that have come after it. Considering where BB had gotten itself by 2010, BB11/UBB was very decent. It could've been a hell of a lot worse.
