Katy H's parents are from my generation and I think they have probably brought her up the same way I was brought up in the 1950's, which was typically British stiff upper lip. You didn't whine about the state your life was in, you just got on with it.
You didn't borrow money, if you wanted something you saved up for it.
People who were complete strangers didn't hug you and after a few minutes of knowing you declared that they loved you.
You kept your feelings to yourself and only cried in private.
You didn't flatter people unnecessarily and felt very uncomfortable if someone said nice things about you. A 'well done', was the most you could expect.
You took pride in doing a job well and didn't need to tell the whole world about it.

I realise in todays society, those values can seem restricted and emotionless, but when someone DID say something nice, you knew it was the real deal and not just mindless mouthing.
I don't know if this is the reason Katy H finds it so hard to accept compliments, but that's one explanation anyway.

Yes but the point I was making was that Katy H's parents are of my generation and if they had those values they probably tried to instill them in Katy H. The other point I was trying to get across was that it's difficult for me to accept a compliment as it is with Katy H.

I think genuine - we've seen her say that she has difficulty taking compliments and having emotional conversations so to have the crowd cheering her (apart from last eviction) and for people to have voted for her to be in the final is a pretty big compliment.
