I didn't watch BB8 when it was on, but just 1.5 years ago.
Maybe it's a different effect as an "already sealed storyline from start to end" watching, but I don't think it is THAT bad.

Watching it over that summer in 2007 was painful but it's practically classic compared to the atrocities the last few years.

Bb8 and 9 were still pretty relevant and talked about while they were on bb10 is when it became embarrassing to actually watch it.

BB8 was terrible compared to 5,6 and 7 but when you compare it to the C5 series' you realise how good it is!
