Why the terrified gasps at the mere mention of a progressive social policy for the UK? would it mean an end to business and/or trade?... No :/

Maybe he means these glitzy mega malls that are popping up everywhere, maybe that's the fate for the UK as the 'white rose centre' for the rest of the world?
