That applies to anyone who is paid for anything, and pays taxes, then.

James, I cant be bothered to quote, butyou said anyone who is famous for being on a reality show.

What if that person happened to be a lovely person with a decent job, and did charity work? lol You can't stereotype 'reality show' people

Indeed. It also applies to anyone following any sort of law outlined by the current government. Because by following them you are avoiding anomie and therefore supporting the Government, who, are of course killing Iraqi's.

By the way Hitman, correct me if I'm wrong. I wasn't too sure if the Beckham Capitalist thing is the point you were getting at. I could be gravely mistaken.

That was actually a swipe at every single other person who has contributed to the thread. Looking back youre practically the only one who didnt list one.

EDIT: Actually, easypeasy said Ray Mears which is probably the best suggestion. But everyone else.

Haha, yeah. I don't really have any "role models" that I can list as of yet.

Ooh, I've thought of one. Bill Oddie. So he might not have done anything revolutionary and life-saving but I think he sends a good message out to people about protecting nature.

I did also add this...

In fact I like a lot of ex-reality TV people.

It's just that it seems these days people on these shows have to be nasty to one another to make a name for themselves.

If anything I'd like more of the 'nice' ones to get a piece of fame.

I guess that is why most of your good role-models are dead then! But did Kenny Dalgliesh march to parliament?

Kylie Minogue

She is an amazing person. She stayed so strong and posotive during her breast cancer battle.

Truly insarational

See this annoys me.

What else was Kylie supposed to do? Just say "you know what, I cant be arsed battling cancer, im just going to drop dead."

No, she had the support of the world behind her. It was probably extremely easy for her.

As harsh as it sounds, I also disagree with Kylie Minogue doing something spectacular.
Sure, Cancer can be a debilitating disease that can harshly affect someones health, wellbeing and lifestyle.
HOWEVER, surely this battle is harder on everyday members of the community? Those people that sometimes can't afford expensive treatment and so genuinely have to sit and let their body deteriorate in front of their family until they eventually die. These are the people we should be worrying about.

Kylie, however, has the World's goodwill for her, and the best doctors in the World fighting her side (And so she should, no-one should have to suffer the grave consequences of cancer).

Kids look up to celebs, its stupid saying they should look up to a dead person, because they wont.
if they are gonna look up to somone alive, its gonna be a celeb, plain and simple.so you might aswell curb them towards the good ones.
This debate is about kids looking up to celebs in the public eye,not adults that have a sense of history

Its the adults of the media that put these 'celebs' in the public eye. Its just as easy to put anyone from history in the public eye, but then, that doesnt earn as much money.

Kids will take inspiration from whatevers put infront of them. I find it tragic that the modern British youngster is expected to choose from the modern crop of 'celebrities' as a source of inspiration.

Yeah it is sad,but ALL modern celebs arent a bad bunch. You seem to brush somone like Angelina Jolie or Bob Geldof with the same brush as Jade or Chantelle, which is wrong, there are cebritys that do work and use there spotlight for a world of good.i see no problem with somone looking up to people who do good.

Jeff Bridges - my all time favourite actor. Why? He is charming, polite, makes time for his fans (I know), set up the 'End Hunger' network, to try and help give food to the starving and homeless. He has been happily married for almost 30 years (a rarity in the showbiz world), and in the many, many, many articles I have read about him and interviews I have seen with him, nobody ever has had a bad word to say about him.
