The government here changed the law a couple of years to make it against the law for teachers to sleep with pupils below the age of 18.

Is that the case all over the UK, or just in Scotland?

I'm pretty sure England has that law too, because I remember hearing about a teacher having an affair with a 17 year old girl a few years ago and he had to leave being a teacher because otherwise it was illegal?

I think the main issue is the abuse of power. Teachers are in a position of authority and she abused the trust placed in her by the boys family. Even in England if a young man in his early 20's was caught having sex with a girl of 15 it is in theory statutory rape BUT very very rarely would it be brought before the courts. The key really is getting the young person to agree to give evidence to say they had been forced to do it!!!

It was a UK parliament law so it certainly covers England. Not sure if the Scottish parliament has to legislate for it to cover Scotland also but it probably does apply to Scotland also.

Devolution is all a bit confusing.
