in all honesty though it's not as if they haven't tackled issues of racism and immigration in the newer series

A black character called Bailey had a football manager who was racist towards him
Another black character, Kaz, was an immigrant who fled from conflict, and she could've been deported
May-Li, the careworker, is gay. There was also a same-sex couple who adopted an autistic boy and one of the other kids were homophobic towards them

Honestly TDG will never be as entertaining as TSOTB but the messages they're also more upfront about child neglect, abuse, and the reasons why the kids are in care

and lets not act as if Lily falling off the roof wasn't the biggest SHOCK of ya childhood!
