Yep. Its just a question of your age. People dont need a reason. Its just friendly banter in society. To think its rude is a bit mental.

Message from Sunny_01 - Try to remember that we are here to discuss HM's not other members, calling another members posts insane can be quite hurtful

It may not bug some so much, but to other people - older especially - asking them their age like that, whilst making it obvious that others were talking about them, isn't really polite. I never really saw it that way.
Thank you Ash... I thought I was going mad... Some people are sensitive about their age and when someone casually comes up and asks for your year of birth without a genuine reason is isnt reallt respectful

I'm actually one of the few who's in the middle... I liked her on the first night, but at the moment she's not really done anything to make me like or dislike her more. Not even done anything interesting full stop yet. But I realise for some it takes a while for them to come out of their shell and be their true selves, which is why I'd say I still like her.

I fail to identify with people who say these things. We could all do with a bit more of being smug , cocky and big headed if you ask me. Its hardly a bad thing - and so far she has been extremely respectfull to all the other housemates.
You know what I totally agree, I always encourage my daughters to "big" themselves up if they dont who is going to. I am more than happy to sing my own praises when I know I am great at something, at the end of the day we all need our ego's to be stroked every now and then

Ok I am mental then

I have been raised to respect my elders and also that a person of a certain age might find it rude to be asked

No. She was in an uncomfortable position and reacted in self defence, so she could get the bed. I think as the oldest person she had a right to it anyway. As for the lies, this is her sense of humour and manipulation. It is not a matter of respect. Emily was only acting the way she did as a kind of bullying. She had the whole house behind her and she knew when she casually and rudely asked Lesley her age, the house were behind her. This is disrespect.

Bullying ? LMAO She was asking a flipping age. Also, if Lesley had that much of a right to the bed, why should she lie about it. And I dont find lying humorous.

Yes, I did find that to be bullying. When someone intimidates another. Lesley was well aware that Emily was reporting back to the other housemates and she felt ostracised. That is bullying in my book.
And of course lying can be humorous. To claim she is 72 is harmless fun.

Smug or extemely self confident?

I suspect dear Emily is the result of a good middle class education. She is going to be tarred with the 'Grace' brush because she was, until Ziggy, the only youngster who spoke with clipped tones.

In her VT she stated she never loses and yes that could be called smugness, but it could also be self confidence which is drilled into you in most private schools.
If that is the case (I'm making a presumption) then she's a product of her environment, that's all.

My personal opinion is that I do not trust her. Instincts are strong here and tell me that she's playing a game? I could be wrong but let's wait and see.

Okay, but if she was lying, and the housemates wanted to know her real age. What was wrong with that. Its not as if Carole would have went on like that.

It was a bit dippy just to open the door and effectively say 'how old are you leslie'. I mean she must have a granny and I'm sure she wouldn't be delighted if one her friends did the same, and that wouldn't even be in front of 5 million viewers !.Having said that I don't have a view on her yet and I hope she' has a personality to match her looks. she seems ok ish.

to be fair J.C she didnt actually say it like that. She asked her what year she was born in, and gave a reason for asking so

I hope your aware , Moses Four Five Five , she merely asked her her damn age. If Lesley could not take that simple request , fine but its silly to assume it as bullying.
