I'm sure if Charley would've called another housemate the n word she too would've been kicked out.

As a black man, I can't say what Emily said offended me as such, on the mere basis that she is uneducated and din't have a clue what she was talking about.
I'd rather not hear it, but she genuinely was so thick... The thing that gets me more, is the women trying to get Ziggy's towel off. If a bunch of men done that to a woman, trouble would be ahead. Also, Charley taking the pee out of Chanelle's voice....how is that now discriminatory? It happened in CBB and was picked up when Jade/Jo did it etc. It's just BB's chance to put things right (if possible) after CBB. |

i'm sick of hearing people say "rappers use it, so it's OK!!!" That is the worst possible arguement ever. If we all lived by the rules of "rap music" there would be no-one alive - they'd all be shot dead after being called a "biatch a$$ N*****" for being in the wrong "hood".
Rap music is not an excuse to use racism. |

There's a difference between calling yourself one when you are one, and someone else who's only known you 5 days or so saying it. Charley was clearly affected by it, even if not affected, she was shocked - otherwise she wouldn't keep bringing it up. I'd say it would have been double standards if another black HM had said it to Charley, and then Emily, and then only the one was punished.

When will people ever understand. A word in itself is not racist. It is the intent in which a word is used that makes a word racist........ There wa an excellent oldie fim which is now no longer shown exept modern inferior versions....That film was titled Ten little ****** boys. A very good who dun it thriller for its day... Was the author intending offence by the use of the word.......was the film racial...Of course not. It is the intent that matters. Like sex racism can exist just n the mind and people will see it because thats the emotion they want to see in order to convince themselves what goody goody people they are........ Some of those same people on the forums in general (note I am not targeting any individual here with this comment) will be quite happy to refer to female contestants as slags or sluts without regard to hurting family and friends of such contestants. When it comes to offensive words and the use of people need to put their own house in order first....... |

A lot of Asians who call themselves terms like that do it to ease the pain and humiliation they feel when a person of a difference race calls them it. And they say it amongst themselves in a way so that it's almost ridiculing people who call them it; making themselves feel comfortable when they're together, in other words. It does not mean they like the term. Well, normal ones don't.
So I don't understand why anyone should say it to them and make them feel hurt/confused in the first place. Most of the Asian teenagers you'll see these days suffer from personality complexes - they're confused, so they try and put on a sort of 'hard' image so they don't get picked on, and act like it doesn't bother them... and it's developed. I know that for a fact. People should think very carefully before they speak for others. |
