Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel, Monty Python, Mr Bean and Ricky Gervais. Basically humour.

There's a bit more to add to the list

When did the question become lost culture?

I thought the question was, what is British cultur?

Well as the OP clearly states, that we hear a lot about British Culture being lost, is it not quite an obvious point to suggest parts of culture which are at a threat of being lost?

Culture is such a big thing, mainly to do with traditions.
Culture differs between different areas and counties within Britain.
Not everybody will like all traditions, just live and let live.

Everyone thinking we’re the best at everything and then scratching their heads when we flop (i.e. Eurovision)

Relishing in the fact that you can scream f*ggot and get away with it because it’s in a song

The things I feel we have lost have been more brought about by the successive Government's failings. The "nations pride" we used to talk about has been eroded by austerity and cuts in government funding for all sorts of things. We have an aging population and the NHS is on its knees. People talk of the good old days....but what were they really? The poor were still poor, the rich were still rich. Nothing was inherently "British" as such that I can think of.

The only things are that I would think are things like Shakespeare, Lowry, Chaucer, the Monarchy (although mainly European), the landmarks, Stone Henge etc etc and we still have all those in our heritage.

I don’t think British culture is being lost. Our culture has had a pretty big impact over the globe if you think back to the British empire etc.

Ah not in that way

Was thinking more in terms of sports like cricket being popular in countries such as India that were formally part of the empire still being played today.

Christianity is a lost part of our culture, not totally lost, but almost. And something has to and will replace it.

I mean it exists in a lot of little ways but it's not a very strong national identity because its rooted in empire, and the empire no longer exists.

There are strong regional cultures though all over, from Essex to Yorkshire, Scotland, Wales etc.

Then again, it is possible to have both; the US has a combination of very regional "state cultures" and "city cultures" AND a very strong "USA" identity. Britain just doesn't really have the latter if we're being honest.
