Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman.

“Big Little Lies” star Zoe Kravitz has been tapped to play Catwoman, the antiheroine and sometime love interest of the Caped Crusader, in Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman.”

Kravitz will star opposite Robert Pattinson as Batman.

In recent weeks, the role came down to Kravitz, Zazie Beetz of “Atlanta,” “Deadpool 2” and “Joker” and “Baby Driver’s” Eiza Gonzalez, with all three actresses testing last week for the part. Ultimately, Kravitz won out, despite some worry about scheduling issues with “Fantastic Beasts.”

Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics pic is expected to start this summer. No official start date has been set, although insiders tell Variety that filming could start in late 2019 or early 2020. “The Batman” is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021.

Reeves, the filmmaker behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels, took over “Batman” directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017. Affleck departed his role as Batman following “Justice League,” allowing Reeves to pick his own Bruce Wayne. Reeves’ “Planet of the Apes” collaborator Dylan Clark will produce.

Sooo, I just read that the Flash solo movie (due in 2022) will be the Flashpoint storyline which will mess with the timeline / multiverse... I'd been wondering how they'd replace ol' Batfleck with R-Batz for any future Justice League stuff, but I'm guessing that will explain it, Flash is going to balls up the multiverse and somehow merge a younger alternate Batman into the same DCU as Wonder Woman and Aquaman?

They'll probably use it to ditch Leto as well

Zoe Kravitz - She's beautiful, I can totally picture her as Selina!

Paul Dano - I googled him and he looks the part, don't know anything else about him though! I might have got my rumours crossed, but I thought he was a fat guy who wears a hat haha

Rihanna - I've not heard anything more about her being Poison Ivy; I think she could easily play the sultry Ivy, but I don't know if she could pull off the smart Doctor Isely

tbh I wouldn't mind if they ditched the interconnected cinematic universe, and just had a bunch of movies where some of the characters occasionally pop up in each other's films, but can be played by other people.

Shazam was the best DC movie* and it didn't rely at all on the rest of the DCEU, apart from (some versions of) the League heroes existing.

*tied with Wonder Woman, but I like Shazam more because I like family-based films

Apparently, one of the main reasons why Wonder Woman was delayed for an entire year was so that they could do reshoots and add a Flashpoint-esque plot in order to reboot the DC universe.

I'm guessing Steve coming back is down to some sort of time travel shenanigans that messes with the timeline which is why Wonder Woman is active in the 80's when she wasn't in the timeline established before.

The only films that won't be retconned are WW, Shazam and Aquaman I bet. Aquaman and WW were huge successes while they've greenlit the Shazam sequel. Batman, Superman, Joker, the first Suicide Squad film, Justice League and possibly even Ezra Miller's Flash are likely casualties, I think.

I don't know if they'll retcon Miller's Flash since he'll be an active part of a Flashpoint storyline... but they might retire him as the active Flash? It was nearly a decade ago that he was signed up

The combo of Pattinson and Dano will be incredible - RPatz has really proven his worth with his recent great roles and well Dano is just a real scene-stealer in everything he's in.

VERY intrigued to see Colin Farrell's take on Penguin too.

Cool spin on Alfred to cast Andy Serkis too, be more like the "Pennyworth" series that was on a few months ago where Alfred is a proper "Cockney" Londoner.
