Yes.

I’d be wary of using inappropriate humour to do that to be honest, Mock (stuff like that’s no laughing-matter) but I appreciate you coming through. Threads like this have a tendency to explode the minute someone expresses a different opinion/preference but nothing in this thread should be anything other than light-hearted preferential honesty. It’s not that deep.

Yeah I get that type of humour can rub some people up the wrong way.

At least Jimmy Saville can't harm another child.

Tbh when it comes to Animals I feel like we all are gonna view them differently, as long as people aren't deliberately going out of their way to harm these animals then I personally will be okay with you.

I don’t think anyone who’s posted on this thread is the sort of person to even entertain harming an animal for a split-second (if anything it’s more about fear about it being the other way around). It really is just a case of different people liking different things (which is fair enough). Not liking dogs, geese or butterflies doesn’t make you mentally ill nor a monster. It’s just part of what makes you you and that should be respected.

I don't mind Foxes ,as they usually run away when spotted . As they're just looking for food.

I think rats (at least wild rats) are an animal everyone can agree on disliking. Filthy vermin.

Rats wouldn't be my first choice of pet either, although I do know that domestic Rats are meant to be cleaner and friendlier than Feral Rats (which makes sense) and a few years back I was staying at a Hotel where I had a Mouse in my room, I called him Jerry and he definitely weren't shy of stealing food.

The main reason I became religious about using peppermint essential oils was specifically to deter rats and mice (not that I had any but I just wanted to take all the precautions). I feel like once you’ve added a few drops of it to a candle or given the floor a good mop with it (vinegar doesn’t hurt, either) you can leave out some rubbish-remains overnight from your Saturday night takeaway and not have to worry about rodents taking advantage of the opportunity. I won’t sleep soundly at night if I either haven’t fully cleared-up the mess or detoxified the space with some peppermint/clove/citronella oil. If I’ve run out of essentials and I can’t be arsed to clean (which doesn’t really happen with me) I’m not sleeping that night. That’s how-much I hate rats and mice.

Does peppermint oil actually get rid of rats & mice???, if this is true then i'm going to try it if i ever see them in the garden .

Back to your dislike of dogs Redway, i like dogs and i will always prefer them to cats , but i'm not a fan of the ones known to be aggressive & loud . The ones trained to be guard dogs and the ones that attack . I prefer the more docile dogs.

Oh, dear. That can of worms.

I guess it would be different for me if you saw more puppies and dogs of that temperamental ilk around because I don’t think they’re too bad (and for what it’s worth those types are uber-cute). I quite like the idea of a husky or (better-still for the serenity) Cavalier King Charles Spaniel because those types seem largely okay to keep their gregariousness in check (you know what I mean) and largely do their own thing and there’s a particular streak of gentility in the Spaniels. A quietly-loyal dog I’d probably rather have as a cat (I wouldn’t mind one of it wasn’t for the fact that they have a certain propensity to bring in mauled rats and I just don’t want that on my doorstep, nor have I ever really cared to have pets over the years except for a good-couple couple of goldfish). I might actually have a think about getting a quieter dog and see if that helps me warm up more to dogs as a whole.

Peppermint, clove and (to a lesser extent) citronella and tea-tree essential-oils work a treat in dispelling vermin (I feel like you can even use cotton balls if you don’t want to have to dig your mop/candle-selection/spray out just to have reason to use them). Peppermint in particular is something nice and rats just don’t go near. It got to a point this-summer where I’d boil individual bags of peppermint tea, put them in an open plastic container and add some of those essential oils (and a touch of white wine vinegar) just to keep vermin away and the funny thing is it actually worked. I’d definitely recommend looking into it if you’re looking for a humane way to just keep them at-bay and away from your house/garden. Last time I checked it was buy one, get one half-price and Holland and Barret.

I like husky dogs , and i know what you mean about the cute little dogs .. i've always liked them aswell . It's funny because i don't own any pets atall LOL .

Cats are SUPPOSED to get rid of rats & mice, but i've noticed lately the cats around my area are too lazy to even do that anymore. They'll still continue to kill squirrels & birds though (another reason i dislike cats) i always feel sorry for the birds and squirrels .

I will have to try the peppermint & cover /essential oils thing .

Yup, I’m not a big fan of cats for those reasons, either. If it wasn’t for that I probably wouldn’t mind having one as a pet but I’ve never actually had any great affectation for them. I just wish noisy, aggressive dogs (which neither of us like, apparently) would take a leaf out of their book. Incessant ‘meows’ at night are obviously going to be more tolerable and less annoyingly-distracting in the dead of night than rough, loud barking.

And yeah, do try the essential oils thing and let me know how it goes. I might not be a massive dog-person but unlike the average person I’d still rather use humane ways of keeping/getting rodents out than just reverting to setting a trap by-default.

Re. dogs per-se I don’t know why such a pathologically-big deal was made from certain members about some people not loving individual types of animal as-much as they do. 7 billion people can’t all like and dislike the same things. We’re supposed to be different to each-other so long as there’s no disrespect (to humans or animals). There was an awful-lot of crazy disrespect from certain people last-night but hopefully it’s all been cleared up and those people have had a word with themselves.

Can't say I hate any animals, but if pushed my least fave is monkeys,I don't hate them but they are not an animal I find very endearing.
