…I don’t know if it’s just the wording that’s being used in many articles …but ‘….confirmed they’re in the process of divorcing…’…would indicate that the split isn’t too recent and more of a ‘shock’ to the media than those who know them…I mean, well done them if they’ve managed to keep their relationship problems from the relentless tabloids…all very sad, though…

…I don’t know, I haven’t seen any of that…but that’s also a shame really, when he and his first wife had split and then he met Ruth…?…he apparently refused to be seen with her for a long while and kept their relationship a secret to be sensitive to the feelings of his estranged wife and children…which doesn’t feel aligned with him now ‘dissing Ruth’ in such a public and blatant way, like you say…?…that shows no sensitivity with regard to their son to see his dad do that on National TV…and would indicate an incredibly toxic situation that must have been more widely known if it’s been that toxic…

Ruth Langsford was 'more a carer than a wife' during her marriage to Eamonn Holmes, according to reports.

In news which sent shockwaves through the showbiz industry, it was announced on Saturday that the much-loved couple had decided to split up and are heading for the divorce courts. Fans were convinced something was amiss with the former This Morning stars for months, following reports of explosive rows and no photos of the pair together on social media.

Now, it's been reported, Belfast-born Eamonn, 64, had become "more and more grumpy" in recent years following his well-documented battle with chronic back pain.

Speaking about the star's ill health, a friend of the couple said: "Ruth has become more his carer than a wife. Eamonn has been thoroughly miserable."

They continued: "He has had a torrid time with his health, he's in constant pain, and the truth is he can't contain how miserable it makes him," reports MailOnline.

Eamonn speaks candidly about his "chronic pain" on X, formerly Twitter, after undergoing spinal surgery in 2022 and a double-hip replacement in 2016. Claiming Ruth, 64, has "borne the brunt of much of his anger and frustration in recent years", the source says "something had to give".

They continued: "In the end it just started to get her [Ruth] down more than she could accept.She needs her own life. It's a case of her wanting to get out and enjoy herself. Women at Ruth's age realise that they only have ten, 20, 30 years max left and they want to have some fun."

The friend claims Ruth and Eamonn had remained living under the same roof, but were sleeping in separate rooms. However, it's since been reported the GB News star has walked out of their their £3.25million Surrey mansion and is now living at a property nearby.

Eamonn has now reportedly agreed to open up about his split with Ruth in his first TV appearance since announcing their break-up. Amid his heartache, the dad-of-four is preparing to tell-all about his second divorce when he returns to GB News on Monday.

A source said the seasoned star knows fans will want to hear from him and he will be frank about his side of the story. They told The Sun: “Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day’s news without mentioning his split so he’ll say a few words."

Friends of Eamonn and Ruth say the presenters, who share son, Jack, 22, had drifted apart, but Ruth did visit her estranged partner during a recent spell in hospital. However, the Loose Women host admitted it had been a "testing" time for their family and also revealed in an interview with Woman's Weekly that she 'was not sure' if Eamonn would ever fully recover.

Seems that 'poor' Ruth is the driver behind all this, they have been having issues for a while but Eamonn was trying to keep it under wraps and work to resolve the issues

So much for “in sickness and in health”….

However it must be very difficult…my husband was a pain in the arse recovering from a knee operation but at least it only lasted a couple of months. Long term is a very different issue.
