She meant it clearly in my view as a joke around border control, because it was about controlling the 'border' against the Vampire team (half of who were white).
The vampires did start off very gloating. Border control is clearly not just about PoC, it is about controlled immigration in general (whether from Eastern Europe or North Africa or wherever else... It gets even more unclear when you consider that it's debated still whether ethnicities like Syrians, for example, are 'white' or 'of colour'... The US defines them as white legally)... Controlling your borders is not racist. It was actually a good bit of witty word play. Well done Sarah!

Yeah the whole 'stop the boats' is so topical,it will be seen in every way you can think of...and usually a negative way. I guess it's the equivalent to telling someone they sound " fresh off the boat", things can so easily get misconstrued. |
