I think you need to read what I said again...

I clearly stated that Gareth WAS more successful. Since he no longer has any fame.

Will Young disappeared and Gareth had hit single's playing on the music channels, whilst everyone talked about how he became bigger than the actual winner.

Then Gareth let his career go downhill, Will Young took the opportunity to bring himself into the limelight more with some of his hit songs, and now Will Young has outlasted Gareth with more success.

I also stated that Rhydian should hang onto his fame if he gets into the same scenario, unlike Gareth.

I was talking about a specific moment in time, rather than their whole musical based careers. Hope that makes more sense.

Will Young didn't really disappear.Months after he won pop idol he had 3 singles that went to number one and then other one went to number 2.He also had that duet with Gareth that went to number one.This was all around the same time as Gareth was having his best success

Gareth's first single knocked Will's song off the top of the charts but sold less.Will's first album sold more than Gareth's.Then as we all know Gareth's career went downhill on the 2nd album whilst Will went on to have a more successful 2nd album than even his 1st.

So really Gareth wasn't having more success than Will.I think he may have brought out a couple of singles from the 2nd album before Will did but then again that was no surprise seeing as Will was actually writing his album instead of just getting songs passed onto him or doing covers and it was only a couple of months difference.That's probably the time you're alluding too.
