I think thats more than the Obama - McCain debate
Thats probably due to most of the attention on Palin, so glad she delivered

Both sides came well prepared. I thought Palin did better than expected, but I genuinely feel she comes across as more of an endorsement for McCain, rather than Vice-President material. Even whilst speaking, it sounds as though she is chanting McCain's achievements, rather than staying true to opinions of her own. This will obviously appeal to McCain supporters, because they seem to want achievements listed rather than actual policies.

The opinions put across which happen to be hers, however (e.g. supporting teaching creationism in schools/anti-abortion), are frankly quite worrying. I really don't think the world is ready, particularly not when she has the potential to become President herself (if McCain serves one term). Those who vote for them deserve all they get if the Republicans end up with another 4 years. And it certainly doesn't improve international relations/foreign policy.

On the other hand, Joe Biden comes across as a lot more real. In fact, he has disagreed with Obama on several occasions, which deepens their mutual respect and allows the government to be run more honestly. I'm not saying I support all Democrat policies. In fact, I think more choice is needed as far as the two-party system goes, both in the UK and the US. But I would much rather see Biden/Obama in office rather than the alternative.

Yes, about 54 million watched the Obama-McCain debate.

The general consensus is that Palin didn't deliver. She did better than expected, but that's only because she was expected to do dreadfully.

Palin is now moaning about the Katie Couric interviews, because Katie didn't ask the questions that Palin wanted to answer Poor ickle Palin. If she can't handle Katie Couric, how on earth does she think she will cope with other world leaders. Dear me, just when I think she can't get any more ridiculous, she amazes me yet again!

Interesting article here

Basically saying that she might have the style and the ability to perform in a debate, but Palin lacks any actual knowledge or ability.

Regarding her debate - her pre-debate interviews set the bar ridiculously low (due to her complete ineptidue in both of them). Most McCain-Palin are just happy she didn't freeze up or make a dangerously erroneous comment; however it was obvious that she Palin just ignored or sidestepped questions she was not comfortable (read: knowledgeable) about (there were many of these) before delivering an obviously pre-prepared statement that she memorized during her recent cram session in Arizona.

These rehearsed 'messages to the people' were filled with the good southern girl image dialogue (golly, darn, gosh, etc). Probably the Republican strategy was to bust this out a couple times and play up that image. She did well in that respect although she failed to answer simple questions that 95% of politicians could legitimately answer.

She also mentioned something about wanting to speak to the American people rather than a debate. Fair enough - but she has turned down so many interviews where she could have made her point to the people. As I said before - Biden has done around 100 interviews since being named VP nominee. Palin has done 3 (not including the debates). Seems to me that there is only one thing she craves - and that is power.

Btw - she refers to the Republican ticket as "a team of mavericks." Could someone please advise her that this is a contradiction in terms?

I do have to kinda agree with Palin about the questions asked
but if she did more interviews then she would be more likely to get those questions asked so she could answer.

But if she becomes VP, she is going to have to get used to dealing with questions she is not happy with. And if she can't handle Katie Couric, how will she handle other world leaders?

Ugh, I just watched the VP debate (I Sky +ed it).

Sarah Palin; what a vile woman, the thought of her in power is a truly scary thought. She continues to stress how open-minded she is but is constantly contradicting herself with her views on gay marriage, Iran and abortion!

Refusing to answer the questions she was asked. Deciding what she wanted to talk about - she needs to realise she's not chairing this debate.

"I want to talk about energy" - why Sarah? Because that's the one subject you had boned up on?

Also, I think everyone in the entire western hemisphere now knows that she is a "hockey mom" (although they might not know that she was only one for perhaps 2 years at the most) - there's really no need for her to keep reminding us at every opportunity. I would think people would want more than that in their VP.

did anyone catch Tim Robbins on The Daily Show last night? His comments about McCain and Palin were spot on.

I prefer the Republican party but the more I see McCain the more I think he should be in a nursing home.

Rex Features
Madonna has banned US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin from attending her live shows.

During her 'Sticky & Sweet' tour date in New York, the popstar broke from her performance to launch an attack on the Republican politician.

She said: "Sarah Palin can't come to my party. Sarah Palin can't come to my show. It's nothing personal."

Later in the show, when a technical glitch caused a high-pitched screeching noise, Madonna commented: "Here's the sound of Sarah Palin's husband's snowmobile when it won't start."

P. Diddy, Lindsay Lohan and Pink have also declared their dislike for Palin, the running mate of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
I can see why people dislike Palin but there is no need for this sort of hatred
but then again I do prefer Madonna

I don't think it's hatred, although I some how doubt that she'd have been rushing to by tickets anyway, then again she should have time seen as she's done a total of . . 3 interviews.

Looks like the polls are chalking the second debate up as a win for Obama

Even McCain supporters are saying that McCain did not do anywhere near enough in that debate. As the polls stand, if the election was today, Obama would win it very easily.

Indeed. And now that it is has been found that Palin acted unethically over the 'Troopergate' incident - hmmm.....

As current polls stand, if the election was right now, Obama would win in a landslide.

Incidentally, 93% of UK residents would like Obama to win. Worldwide, 87% would like Obama to win.
