i used to smoke prob getting close to 5 years ago now and gave up by pure willpower (was very hard though as my ex was a smoker) but i still have days even now where i really crave one and if i walk past someone smoking i just want to wrestle it off them
i would try the nhs stop smoking thing cos they give you pointers and can help you decide best route although be careful cos my stepdad gave up smoking but is now just as addicted to the lozange things you can get

I have given up from 20 a day to 0 a day!

Whoo! I just decided one day that enough was enough and I had to pull myself together. I put £5.25 in a jar every day cos thats what I spent a day and then looked at it every week knowing there was nearly £40 a week going in there. And then I bought myself something new every week instead.

That's what I am planning to do, but put the money in an ISA and use it for travelling for a year around Australia and New Zealand next June.

I find smoking repulsive, and I would never ever start it. When smokes near me I just get away from them, even if its a friend or family member. My Mum smokes, and its awful. If I could ban them I would. In our SPHE book it showed us a photo of a smoker's lung -- it looked like a decaying turkey corpse. Has anyone seen the add where they get this organ of a smoker and push all this stuff out of it. Looked like grey rice pudding. I'll stop talking now, but damn its a horrible habit.

I don't think it's a dirty habit, at all. Okay it's not that healthy but I would rather smoking than taking drugs.
I don't want to quit anyway. However, I do practice a lot of sport and I exercise every day so I kinda feel the bad sides but that's all.
