to all those directing their anger at the government, try blaming the people who are not social distancing, they are the ones to blame

i don't think there is any doubt that it will end up being extended into the new year, the numbers may start flattening in a month but they have always taken an age to come down. If they removed the lockdown before christmas and left some areas in t3 can you imagine the uproar? Because thats what will happen when the lockdown is ended |

The leak
There was a meeting on Friday night with Bojo, Rishi, Gove and Hancock, and soon after graphs were leaked to the BBC in order to force the lockdown..

Shoppers panic ahead of new national lockdown...
Talk of a second lockdown prompted people to make emergency hair and beauty appointments, scramble to book slots for home deliveries as shelves were cleared of toilet roll and customers queued outside shops. Saturday brought one last hurrah as nationwide restrictions loomed ahead of Boris Johnson’s press conference. Salons said they were overrun with customers fearful of a repeat of the lockdown measures introduced in March that led to DIY hairstyles or simply succumbing to overgrown roots. While in a case of panic buying deja vu, toilet rolls were grabbed from shelves as people were seen queuing outside stores and home delivery slots were fully booked by midday. Shai Greenberg, co-founder of Gielly Green boutique salon in Marylebone, said he has seen a surge of bookings in recent days. "We've been very busy today and are fully booked tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday," he told The Telegraph. "We've opened every single slot up and are completely booked up. "It’s devastating news about another lockdown, we hardly managed to cope with the first lockdown and I fear it will be a death penalty for the industry in many ways.” Boo Banner-Eve, a colourist at the Shoreditch branch of Taylor Taylor London, said she had originally had three clients booked for Sunday but this had doubled by Saturday afternoon. “In the last couple of hours, we’re now at almost full capacity for Sunday. ....full article.. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/shoppers-p...172958872.html |

It was inevitably going to happen. The restrictions were going to have to tighten with increasing case numbers and people have relaxed on the rules regarding social distancing. However, to say its wrong to blame the government is a bit rich. Who encouraged us to Eat Out to spread it about sorry eat out to help out? Who said opening schools and unis were safe, my son has only managed 2 weeks at a time in class before being exposed to it.....I managed to keep him safe for 6 months with no exposure. Who encouraged us to go out and spend money....now those places we were encouraged to go to are the ones facing financial ruin having been forced to close again.
This lockdown will not work in 4 weeks, it will extend past christmas and into january imo. Suicide rates spike during a normal christmas, I fear the numbers this year will be heartbreaking. Whilst a global pandemic of a novel virus is out of the hands of any government, it is my opinion the Boris has mishandled this massively. The devolved nations have had a better response but for some reason Boris has handled England poorly.

They are in part to blame. Just as the government is too. However the government makes the rules and should enforce them. I've condemned the non mask wearers and excusers of same. Far too much too soon was opened up at once. Now I'm aware you consider me thick. However I'll condemn the government if I so wish just as you'll possibly tear in to try to sidestep the government's failing to defend. Being your government that's in part understandable. I'd be as strong in my attacks however if this were my party in government making the mess this lot have. I learned of a neighbour's son, who was on Friday tested at work. He has the virus now. Has a wife and 3 children. All he's done is go to work as this government told him to. Now has the virus. It's not just those people's fault you'd hold only responsible. When people are contracting it, only doing as they were told to by this government. In fact near ordered to, as they were virtually told to go back to work. There's even doubt now as to how long this can be airborne as a virus. We aren't instructed to wear facecoverings in public places. A lot of people could be getting it via ways we don't believe it possible to yet. Which is why everything the government instructs and puts in place is important. They can claim success if anything really works. However, if they are pushing people back out into communities, then they too rightly have the buck stopping at their door. When their dangerous play with others lives results in more unnecessary deaths. That's not a price I think worth paying and I never will sit back and not attack the incompetence that brings it about either. Last edited by joeysteele; 01-11-2020 at 08:58 AM. |

This means from 5 November to 2 December, foreign holidays and overnight stays anywhere in the UK are banned. The government's decision to impose a second coronavirus lockdown in England will leave thousands with November travel plans disappointed.

Restaurateur who imported heated igloos to the Hove seafront faces loss as new lockdown looms...
A restaurateur who invested £160,000 into making his establishment Covid-proof ahead of the winter is expecting to lose thousands of pounds as new restrictions force hospitality closures. When restaurants were told that they could only offer outdoor seating to those from different households while a maximum of six could dine inside, Luke Davis, boss of Rockwater in Hove, took it as an opportunity to innovate. He set about importing 30 igloos to the UK from Germany, so 'bubbles' could dine safely outside, warm and enclosed and away from other families. However, with new nationwide restrictions coming into force, the pods, which cost £160,000 could be no more than a beachside feature, left empty and crucially, not providing any income for a business already hit by the lockdown since March. Mr Davis, 41, said: "These are difficult times for the hospitality trade. We wanted to continue trading and we had to order these pods from Germany. "The igloos are really cool looking and totally fit the requirements of our restaurant. It looks very other-worldly. They really are an attraction in themselves. "We only launched the pods this weekend and we are already totally booked out with guests. ...full article... https://uk.yahoo.com/news/restaurate...190224168.html |
