Lovely to see that 2024 is carrying on being insane.

This is not all as simple as it looks. People like me are completely fed up with politics, so while they may have expressed a preference in a poll, they may not bother voting. If the tory voters are more energised, they may still pull it off, because lets be honest, no-one really likes Starmer across the entire political landscape

I actually can agree with some of that.
I said a good while ago the Cons are good election winning machines.
I've never myself believed the gap in the polls as they are still, is a hard support level or even correct.

It still wouldn't be a great shock to me if it was a tiny majority for either Party.
Or even a hung parliament.
It's not impossible.
I know from 2015 from what we as canvassers were told, that once in the polling booth, that past few seconds change of mind is a major element in voting.

However, this is the first election out of the 4 I've canvassed in where the reception I and my team and the other teams are getting for Labour is much friendlier and welcoming.
For the vast majority of people we have talked to, the main thing that vast majority want is this Con government OUT.

There's no great love for Starmer, you are right but he's far preferred to Sunak.

Softer support of the Cons from the last election, who are changing to Labour is because they have no fear that Labour will be as bad as this lot now.
A lot of voters in 2019 weren't in the main voting for Johnson's Cons, they were voting against Corbyn.

Politics is consistent at being inconsistent and predictable only as to being unpredictable.

You make strong points in your post.
However in canvassing this time, the real dislike is to this current Con leadership and government.
That's the message I'm getting all the time and the desire to ensure this government is really gone this time.

I've never had so many cups of tea or coffee offered to me in electioneering before.
It's REALLY heartwarming.

Far better than before where Cons and UKIP/ Brexit hard and firm supporters said my legs should be cut off to stop me canvassing for Labour.
Or that all connected to Labour should all be piled into baths of acid.
Charming.

i think a lot of it has to do with the Labour "safe pair of hands" message they are favouring. There really won't be much change, and is it a big incentive to vote if the message is, we can't do anything because we don't have any money

The last election was all about brexit because people were so fed up about it, but stirring up enthusiasm to vote this time round is going to be really difficult

FAR RIGHT IN SINISTER NEW PLOT TO SOUND COMPLETELY REASONABLE

REVEALE How the Far Right are manipulatively tricking people by suggesting
completely sane and sensible policies and then vilely and divisively trying to
implement those exact policies when people vote for them

The Far Right (like the Far Left) sprinkle bits of truth in with a lot of lies and insanity.

Imo if you can see through the one side doing this, then you have a good shot at seeing through the other side as well.

"Labour will run riot with your money! They might spend it on daft things like healthcare staff and fixing potholes! They won't give any AT ALL to my Tory donor pals?? It's ridiculous!"

Gravy train is about to run dry for an awful lot of Tory-government-bolstered "businessmen".

The list of candidates standing in North West Essex:

Kemi Badenoch - Conservative
Issy White - Labour
Smita Rajesh - Liberal Democrats
Edward Gildea - Green

Reform UK - Removed

Erik Bonino - Independent
Andrew Green - Independent
Niko Omilana - Independent

[Reform UK candidate resigns over 'unacceptable' blog posts]

[Reform UK’s parliamentary candidate
in Kemi Badenoch’s constituency
has resigned after it emerged he
previously urged people to vote for the BNP.
Grant StClair-Armstrong, the party’s candidate
in North West Essex, told BBC News
he had “never supported the BNP” and had
been forced to stand down by the party.

“I would have let the people decide,” he said.

But a spokesman for Reform UK said
“Mr StClair-Armstrong has tendered his
resignation” after “the revelation of unacceptable
historic social media comments”.

In remarks first reported by the Times, external,
Mr StClair-Armstrong wrote on a website:
“I could weep now, every time I pick up
a British newspaper and read the latest about
the state of the UK.
No doubt, Enoch Powell would be doing
the same if he was alive.
My solution … vote BNP!”]
