Starting to or opening up, things from December 2nd is in my view going to have in those mad 3 weeks to Christmas and New Year.
Caution thrown to the wind bigtime.

He's raising again a hopeful success in this measure.
Which of course all hope it will be.
Will he however, throw it all away again by opening all up too soon, too quickly in the run up to Christmas and New Year.
He mentioned that England would be going back to the tiered restrictions though so the areas with the highest numbers will probably still be in a lockdown

no she was then asked so you are not going to lock down at any point or some such leading question and she obvs had to reply that she cannot rule it out in the future (she cant if the numbers went mad of course)

hence the headline "Sturgeon does not rule out 2nd lockdown" its papers trolling readers for views. The positive story would get less views

Wasn’t the last lockdown for 3 months and involved closing schools and colleges.. This second wave is supposedly more severe so how on Earth will 1 month on an easier lockdown work faster ??

Could be enough. The R rate is not that high. It just needs to get below 1

That’s my view as well especially if we’re keeping schools open

Fair enough...

I’m still in shock after learning about the young kid ( aged 13 ) in America who was happily messing with his school mates one moment and died of Covid just 10 days ( TEN) later !! They didn’t mention any underlying health issues as they normally do ..

I’m confused by this lockdown because they said the 2nd wave will be worse than the first one yet they’re choosing to keep more places open this time?

i think Nicola would have considered a lockdown in Scotland if furlough were only available for a short time. Now that its extended until March, she can be more flexible knowing she could lockdown if and when it was required

Yeah, I don't think lockdown is needed in Scotland at the moment.

They're trying to avoid a second wave like that.
Hopefully next year the vaccine will help.

we have such a long winter ahead, there is the possibility of things being much worse if it were allowed to get out of control. In March the R rate was 3 across the UK. Now ( or last week, it was 1.1-1.3) So not even close to how it was in March, and it shows social distancing is working. All we need to do is bring the number under 1 and the infections will shrink again. As we only need to come down from 1.1-1.3 it will be much easier than coming down from 3 in March.

The bottom line is we all just need to be careful with social distancing

Yes, the r rate is so much lower than it was back march.
At the moment it's around 1.5.
So I'm confident that we can do it.
But they will need to reopen carefully and not too fast.

So many are still not convinced ..

We were walking our dawg at weekend and got chatting to a couple in their 40’s who think it’s all a farce.

Yes he did, I'm glad he said that too.

Obviously I'd support that, sadly too I can see the run up to Christmas and New Year having big problems in England however much I hope not.

Yeah, there will be a tiered system afterwards.
That's probably the best way to keep cases as low as possible.

Has anyone seen any comparison per thousand of their relative populations of N. Ireland and the Rep of Ireland as regards infections / hospitalisations / recoveries and /or deaths ?

As a self employed person, one who has worked all the way through this, without receiving anything from the government during my first 4 months of self employment...

Can I now sit on my arse for 4 months on 80 percent of my average profits for those 4 months I've worked.?
